Chaplins is a great place to go in Merthyr Tydfil for a coffee or warming lunch. The staff are very welcoming and friendly and all of the food is cooked on site. I had gammon, egg and chips which was very enjoyable. Hope to go again when I am next in town! More

Limited menu, food average, not a particularly comfortable place to eat. Service depends on the day. Very over priced. More

I have been staying at the chaplins hotel for the past 5 years for the rallying. We always have a warm welcome and a great stay at chaplins. The food is excellent especailly in the cold winter months and there is always time for a drink at the bar and a chat with the owners and staff. There is never... More

I stayed at this hotel with a friend, Matt, to see the final round of the World Rally Championship held in Wales. Well what can I say that will do this hotel the justice it deserves? The owners Elaine and Peter are the friendliest people I've met. The welcome we received from them and their evening staff was so warm,... More

we were on a client induced tight budget, and also needed to be in this area, so gave it a go.We did manage to get parked locally, but we were lucky as there is no designated parking. Have to say that the staff were all very friendly and welcoming, and helpful, and the breakfast in the morning was nice, but... More

I had my 40th birthday party at Chaplin's and it was superb!! Everything about the evening was absolutely wonderful. Elaine and Peter had arranged everything for me ~ my biggest decision was what to wear!! The chef had prepared a buffet which was described by most of the guests as the 'best ever'. It wasn't your usual sausage rolls and... More

The weekend we stayed there, Chaplins was fully booked as Donny Osmond was in town to perform a special concert. From the moment we arrived the staff at Chaplins rolled out the red carpet and we were treated like house guests rather than clients. Sue, the manager, and her staff were wonderful -nothing was too much trouble. We stayed in... More

This is the first hotel we used on our trip and we had planned to use them all 5 nights in Wales, but were only able to use them for the first 3, through no fault of the hotel's. The hotel is situated in downtown Merthyr Tydfil and is conveniently located in the shopping district. While we did not take... More

Both Peter and Elaine run a great place. There is a warm, friendly welcome and great selection of food at their Bistro on the ground floor. Located at the edge of Merthyr Tydfil and at the end of the main shopping street it is ideal for tourists, like myself and the business traveller. They have Internet connection in every room... More
