This was one of the quirkiest places I stayed during a month long Caribbean tour. I love quirky, but the fawlts knocked this down a notch. I used this as a base for a several day exploration of Martinique and will say I am glad I did. Fort de France is a shabbily gorgeous place...scenically the equal of New Orleans... More

We chose this hotel for one nite after late nite flight before going onward. Loved the location and charm of this hotel located on the park in central FDF a block or two from the water. Wood floor room with 4 poster bed. We had a front room with balcony, got a little noisy in the morning from the street.... More

stayed here on two different dates in two different rooms....Rooms are clean, charming and so French West Indies....The bar is wonderful and has great atmosphere....Unfortunately, we did not eat at the restaurant but it looked beautiful....The hotel is in a very central location...across the street from a park with lots of great food vendors that do a sit down and... The hotel L'IMPERATRICE [www.limperatricehotel.fr] situated in the centre of town is an ideal place to stay. Recently renovated with assistance from European Union Funds, it has been restored to its former majestic self. Its exterior is imposing. The rooms are all elegant with fine mahogany four poster beds and furniture [had a view of the different rooms].Excellent lily white bed... More

We stayed at L'Imperatrice for 2 nights when we'd just arrived in Martinique, before going on to explore other parts of the island. The location was good, the rooms small but very nice, and the service jovial. The adjoining bar was very quaint and nice, a pleasant place to sit and relax on a hot afternoon. We were in Fort-de-France... More

After much hemming and hawing about which French island to experience for the first time in our quarter century love affair with the Caribbean, we punted on polluted St. Martins and opted for the oh-so-French outpost of Martinique. This review is about the hotel we vowed to rave about publicly, but we must say... about the island: 13 days is... More

I was impressed with the Free wi fi. And the staff always smiled and went out of their way to provide good service, Everyone wanted you to have a good time. And the room were beautifully decorated and very clean. The breakfast was very good, fruit, cheese, pastry, and coffee. So there's not a beach nearby. And did I mention... More

I was worried before my trip because despite the fact that I had eaten lunch in the restaurant at Imperatrice during an earlier visit, the reviews on Trip Advisor were very off-putting. So it was a great relief to find that the hotel has indeed undergone a thorough renovation and is a great place to stay if you want to... More

First and most important: Fort-de-France is not the charming mock-French Riviera town that some guidebooks claim. While there are a couple of nice small squares, there are almost no French-style cafes or bistros around them or facing the waterfront. At night the town is positively creepy, with all stores and most restaurants closed. While all this is not the fault... More

we needed an overnight in FDF and found this hotel . It is downtown and beside the Savannah which is town park , big project to develop the area and the hotel , on some floors at least , has been totally redone . Elevator is slow and hot , doesn't reach the top floor, but relax , it's the... More

The refurbishment is now completed. The rooms, bathrooms, lobby, bar and restaurant have been completly redone. We put energy saver light bulbs in the elevator, so it's not hot anymore inside ! It's still slow cause it's the oldest elevator of the island (1950's), it works well but at is own pace. Hotel l'Impératrice Fort-de-France More
