I stayed here in September and I'm just now getting to this. Plain and simple- we left and went to another resort on the east part of Puerto Rico. Why? Mayaquez was lame, boring, small, and unimpressive. I don't gamble and they close their big pool area at 7 or 8 pm. (I guess so you will go gamble) I love... more

I enjoyed the pool area and the restaurant but the room was way overpriced and the carpets were filthy with stains all over them. The rooms need a major renovation. I would not recommend this place based on the cost vs. what you get...very dissapointed! more

We were staying here for a wedding in the area with a group of friends. It's not near the beach. They tack on resort fees, bellhop fees (there were no bellhops) and $10/day maid gratuity onto the bill. It was absolutely ridiculous. The breakfast buffet was bad and overpriced. The only ok food was at Veranda, and their drink selection... more

We spent three nights at the Mayaguez Resort & Casino while on business travel. It’s close to the University of Puerto Rico which was the main reason for selecting this hotel and Fodder’s noted that it was the biggest hotel on the west end of the island. After reading Trip Advisor reviews of other hotels in the area, the Mayaguez... more

Let’s start with the pros because the pros may outweigh the cons for some but for this traveler, the cons are reason enough to stay away! Pros: The new pool is absolutely beautiful. If the attention and detail that was paid to the pool area was translated to the rest of the “resort,” this review would be glowing. The Veranda... more

Have stayed at the Mayaguez resort in the past, this time around was really impressed by the out come of the new pool with its water falls and a touch of that disney land magic added in. The breakfast buffet was very good as they offered a variety of foods and fruits to choose from. We stayed there three nights... more

View from the veranda overlooking the pool was nice (of the bay), but the food was average at best. Room service food was actually slightly better than the restaurant. Extreme humidity meant that my room had visible mold on the ceiling (ugh). I realize that's part of island living...but I've stayed at other places in Puerto Rico that don't have... more

I stayed here before, but now was a much more spectacular time. Even though the main attraction is the casino, the restaurant was excellent with international and caribbean fares. The wine list was exceptional an has won the "Award of Excellence" from The Wine Spectator eight years ina row. The service, was excellent. The Veranda Terrace Bar was a nice... more

The rooms were drab & uninviting; a long way from "luxury." Prices quoted for accommodations changed with each different individual at the front desk. Food & drinks were overpriced. Lots of hidden fees. Not a place I'd ever return! more
