American travelers will be turned off by the shabby decor and sparse offerings, but this is a very clean and safe hotel that has some nice features. The price is very good, and the hotel offers free onsite parking in a secured (locked) parking lot. If you look past the somewhat shabby dresser and bedspread in the room you will... more
In August 2009 we will replace all the bedspreads, pillows, shower curtains and towels. We will also install ironing boards in every room. And the closets will be redone too. Thanks for your comments.
I had a double room and it was great, it even had a fridge. I paid $65 per night and it included free parking and continental breakfast. Its located downtown and Mayaguez is a nice town. Oh and they recommended a nice seafood restaurant called Jarama Seafood and Steakhouse, it was great. more
Hotel Colonial is located right off the main square in downtown Mayaguez. It's a traditional older hotel which has been somewhat modernized over the decades. Its location is excellent, with restaurants and shops all around, even a local club with salsa, bachata (weekends) on the square. The staff is very accommodating and pleasant.
