Mikuzi’s location is just outstanding, you can easily get down to Winnifred beach (absolute gem) by foot either by a steep but very picturesque shortcut through the woods or by the newly made road within 15 mins by foot MAX. Blue lagoon, French Man’s Cove, Boston beach, Long bay, reach falls are easily accessible by route taxis for 150JMD each way. Kelly and Zappa who are currently looking after the place for their friend Chad are truly the best hosts you could ever wish for. Especially upon your arrival in Jamaica if you fly in from Kingston which I would probably skip altogether. I would highly recommend to spend a few nights in Fairy Hill to slowly settle in first and breathe in a real Jamaican vibe before going anywhere else! Let Kelly and Zappa introduce you to the culture, how to get around, find out about Zappa’s Moores origins, have a lobster curry and a beer at Blacks by the beach and let Jamaica slowly sink in. Kelly and Zappa had all of the very best pieces of advice for us and not only they looked after us so well, but they also introduced us to all of their friends and community making us feel immediately at home. The place has been in need of some tlc for a while as you can read in the previous reviews but on our few days there we were able to see both of them waving their magic wand around and making some real improvements already. Also be careful the property is riddled with cuteness- Beyonce the little resident puppy is going to steal your heart- can you handle this? We can’t wait to go back !

Me and my sister spend 3 wonderful weeks together at Mikuzi. The place is not for everybody, if you are looking for luxury holidays you should look somewhere else! But if you want to experience the country Jamaica with all its beautiful and true sides and not only experience a tourist show, then this is the right place for you. The rooms are simple but have everything you need and we really felt home there. Chad the owner is a really friendly and respecting guy who is always happy to help out, as well as the other guys that are around. Don't feel scared to join the group gathering at the round table outside the kitchen you will have some real nice conversations with other guests and locals there. Over all we had great evenings there just relaxing and talking. With all the green surrounding it feels really calming, especially at night with all the night sounds. Winifred beach is only a few min walking distance and a beautiful place to spend your day. I can only recommend this place to everybody with an open mind and the wish to discover!!!

If you are looking for great location and chilled atmosphere and you are on a budget, this is the place for you. Close to Port Antonio, Boston, Longbay and Reach Fall. By route taxis you get around fast and cost is between 100-200 JMD. Manager Chad was really cool. 💯

We had a friendly welcome from the owner, but we left Mikuzi at the same day as we arrived. We saw a rat in the shared kitchen and heared them walking between the ceiling and roof. The room is closed but rats are everywhere around the place...

Came with my pal Luke to write an article and it was very relaxing. The greenery around the cabins along with the cool breeze is nice and cosy, being close to the beach was nice too. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a getaway. Nature at it's best I say 😉

When you get to Mikuzi you will instantly be disgusted by the state of the grounds. Garbage around the back just thrown on the ground, laundry area smells stale and made the entire area smell. The house did not look clean or like anyone has stayed in there in years (and i can see why). After waiting nearly 45 minutes for someone to 'check us in' i immediately asked for my deposit back and went to Great Huts by Boston in Portland. Mikuzi is a rat hole, be warned.

Wanted to visit family in Port Antonio and friend told me about this place. Booked it as was told its a quite family place near the beach. Only stayed for three days but was far from quite as our laughter must have been loud. The owners name is Chad and I had a swell time in the lovely gardens chatting and laughing with him and some staff. Went out for the day with Chad on a tour into town and local area, wow what a day! Loved it. Felt so safe and home from home here. Rooms are nice and gardens are beautiful as for the beach? I spent so much time exploring and talking with the owners only got chance for a few hours, but it was beautiful and a relaxing swim then walked back to my cottage and fell blissfully asleep. Meet some great guests from Germany also staying there. Going to visit more often definitely. My family came down for the day as well. The cost was very good, the rooms comfy and the fun was endless. Totally recommend it. And a big big thanks to Chad and the other guests for making my stay fantastic

Have stayed at their other place in Kingston a couple of times and had great fun.Had to come to Port Antonio last week doing some research so stayed at this one as needed good accommodation on a budget. Loved the setting and gardens and the staff were fantastic. One of the owners came out with me all day showing me around the sites of a truly beautiful town. Very friendly family atmosphere. The rooms are quite adequate and just feel so cosy and comfortable. If you like exploring like me, there's loads to see and do and a wonderful quite beach just down a leafy road. If your on a budget and want a cosy friendly family place to stay at, would definitely recommend Mikuzi. Just need an excuse now to go visit again and feel that Jamaican sun.

We booked an entire cottage several months in advance. We were required to wire a cash deposit a week prior to our stay. When we arrived, 2 rooms in our 3 room cottage had been rented out from under us. The manager kicked out the people staying in one of the rooms with twin beds, so my sons shared that room. We had to deal with another couple in the other room, and waiting for the manager to "clean" our sons' room. Nothing about the place was clean. Gritty, grimy floors, incredibly rank, lumpy pillows, threadbare linens. We were led to believe that we would have our own kitchen, but the tiny kitchen was shared with the entire complex. There were no clean cloths or towels to wash and dry dishes. The entire kitchen was ant-infested, and it's the only place I saw multiple cockroaches during our 2 week stay in Jamaica. There is only one small outdoor table for the whole complex, so for everyone to share the same kitchen and table was an ordeal. A lot of juggling was going on during mealtime. The manager was rolling joints on the table, and most of the other guests were also stoned. The manager could have cared less about anyone's comfort or the health conditions of the place. If there had been any other options for us, we would have left. It was an awful experience.

Hello. Im so terribly sorry to read this. Rest assured, the matter has been taken care of and heads were rolled - immediately. As you will see from other reviewers, this is not our normal standard. We take pride in our little oasis, though it appears that while management were absent, the cats did play and no work. it is not acceptable and rest assured, with our new staff it will never, never happen again! Once again my humble apologies. Please do look us up in Kingston if you ever travel to the city. I can guarantee you the warmest of welcomes. Have a wonderful New Year from the management at Kingston.
