This hotel is kind of like a favourite old aunt who needs a shave and a makeover. There are many things to like about this place. The setting is jaw dropping gorgeous. A series of huts cascading down a landscaped hillside. Wonderful touches of whimsey in the decor of the huts - very French Cote D'Azur colours - beautiful blues,... More

An absolutely wonderful little place if you are in the Samana area. It pretty much has its own beautiful private beach (althought not private 'per se'). We had a bungalow, which was very cute. All very simple, but yet tastefully done. The setting is just perfect. Lots of greenery, beautiful, plants, palm trees and the sound of the sea. The... More

I will highly recommend to stay by this hotel. We only stayed there for 3 nights. The location is super, the bungalow are extremely charming and of good taste, private pool and beach, staff extremely helpful and friendly: Marie & Philippe, the two owners: super. They were able to create a small corner of Paradise with an awesome garden and... More

I am an American living here. I have been to many resorts and hotels discovering the island. This place is my favorite. My daughter found a tiny florescent green tree frog the first night. We heard them all around chirping all night. I slept out on a hammock as I could not get enough of the nature and waves lapping... More

This was a wonderful, relaxing, private resort. It is very small, so sometimes, you feel like you have the place to yourself. There is a really nice, private beach on the property that was perfect for a lazy day lounging around the property. The bungalows are in the jungle, so you may find a bug, but that's part of nature.... More

Like other guests, I loved the setting of Ballenas Escondidas – the beautiful views, lush vegetation, and sheltered, sandy cove for swimming were all spectacular. The problem, however, came when we tried to sleep. We were in a bungalow, and the upstairs bedroom in particular was overrun with cockroaches. I’m not a finicky traveler, and can tolerate an insect or... More

Me and my wife went to this hotel for a one week getaway with a two friends. We loved it. It was a great place to stay and we had a blast. Marie and the staff keep you having fun all week and help arange activities at half the cost of all inclusive resorts and without the crowds. We went... More

Las Ballenas Escondidas is a plot of land on the Samana Pennisula halfway between Samana and Las Galeras, both towns jumping off points to some of the most incredible beaches in the world. It is carved out of dense jungle, employing a landscaper full time to keep it at bay. Beautiful flowers, birds that nest in the thatched roofs of... More
