Amazing hotel, quiet, cozy, friendly staff, amazing breakfast & 3 course dinner included with your stay. Food was above good, great!!!!! All meals were wonderful! Close to beach, close to shopping mall if you want to buy your own stuff too. Golf course great, green fees included in stay so you can't beat that.

We spent 2 full weeks in Cuba. We started in Havana where we stayed for 4 days. We then took an enormous road trip spending two nights each in Vanales (El Balcon B&B highly recommended) and two nights in Trinidad (Hostal Casa Munoz NOT recommended). We had intended to spend the last part of the trip back in Havana but... More

Went here with three friends to spend four days on the beach and on the golf course. I had only been to Cuba once, but the others had been many times. The building and accommodations are as described in previous reviews - great views, large rooms, relaxed dining on the terrace, but the showers are only warm and the mosquitoes... More

Four of us ordered the best on the menu - two Chateubriand (medallions) and two Lobster, maybe Thermidore. After aperitifs, wine, liqueurs the one of us who brought eyeglasses gave the bill a once-over. BINGO! $200 overcharge! Read the review here by TinksUK -- this happens at this restaurant/hotel. The food was maybe one of the best meals in Cuba... More

I am very familiar with the place (used to be owned by DuPont family), having grown up in Varadero and visited this place as a child several times. Now that I live abroad, I went with very high expectations, and it did not dissapoint. Service in the other hotels in Varadero is fairly bad, but in Xanadu the service was... More

We were in a hotel just down the road and decided to eat here one night after having drinks on the rooftop terrace bar the night before (the bar man in here was a fantastic bloke and nothing to do with this review). I say decided to eat, we tried. Having arrived without a reservation we were told there was... More

Having traveled around Cuba and stayed in all sorts of places, private houses, friend's apartments, holiday resorts, this is the only place where your own accommodation is in itself a tourist attraction for the tourists from other hotels and resorts. The room was huge and well appointed; the bathroom was marbled with gilded fittings of a gone-by era. The place... More

The neocolonial Xanadu mansion, by prolific Cuban architects Govantes & Covarrocas, was built as a holiday home for the American millionaire Irenée du Pont, in 1927. It is now a small hotel (only 8 rooms), right on the beach front, offering a completely different experience of Varadero compared with the large hotels in the area. The price is steep but... More

Spent 4 nights at the Xanadu Mansion in March 2012. LOVED the location and room and service, but thought the bed was far too soft, and bouncy. Also - would recommend that anyone going there save ALL of their receipts and double check EVERYTHING against the final invoice you are presented with when you check out. There were a few... More
