The Melia Santiago de Cuba, is not typical of cuban hotels, but after 7 or 8 nights of "cuban style" it was a relief to get back to hot water, air conditoning and decent breakfasts. The Melia is well located and affords amazing views of the city of Santiago spread out below. The first thing I noticed from our hotel... More

Dear Mrs. To be the welcome relief after days on the road is more than we can expect and the best reward to our daily effort. We stayed in room 406 for 3 nights and could not fault the place in any way. Certainly the closest to Western standards in our whole trip. The room was big, clean, well appointed and everything worked perfectly which is not always the case in Cuba. The dining room provided a plentiful and varied selection of food and we had... More

We stayed 4 nights in this hotel, The management have enough background and knowledge how a 5 star hotel should run and they do their best but, technical infrastructure in Cuba permits this goodwill up to some extent. Although they were often in short of tropical fruits the breakfast buffet was satisfactory in general and the Italian restaurant at the... More

I advise to everybody. Very close to high standards of luxury hotels in US and Europa. Clean rooms and nice buffet. Very nice music at lobby. Don't go to down town for Cuban music especially to music houses. It's much better to stay at lobby. More

This hotel is a surprise in a Socialist country because it is very much what a 4-5 star hotel would be in the "developed" world. It is not as such a very Cuban experience, but that is available all around and at night it is nice to retreat to a comfortable place. More

we were here for 4 nights.on the first night the buffet dinner was large and varied and we looked forward to the rest of our meals. However on the next 3 nights there were obviously not so many guests and the result was only half the variety of the first night!Service in the night club on the 15th floor was such... Dear Mr./ Mrs. We are very sorry the variety in the Buffet restaurant La Casona was not as you expected all the nights that you stayed in our hotel. May you receive our apologies and the compromise to check this out because independently of the amount of clients in the hotel there must be a standard to keep. We will... More

The Meliá is the only choice of an 'international' hotel in Santiago, but it doesn't say much: the rooms are dated (think of 80's), bathrooms aren't in such a good shape - but we managed to have good sleep. Breakfast has an array of options, but again: it doesn't mean much, as it is difficult to find something that excites... More

Dear Mr. /Mrs. Our hotel arrived to its 20 years old last October 15th; however through the years there have being deep restorations and investments. The last one took place in the year 2008 when the CARICOM Summit was celebrated. This year we will renovate the bathrooms in the rooms, so, very soon the clients will enjoy them. The same... More

OK that's not saying much as Santiago doesn't have a lot of choice yet- things are changing fast in Cuba so probably in a few years there will be others. In the meantime this hotel has everything required and manages to get through the Cuban maze of frustrations and deliver an acceptable international standard with a few caveats- don't bother... More
