The whole is memorably greater than the sum of its parts at this unique stop so genuinely off the main tourist routes. Isolated on the edge of lore-laden mountains and hosted by a threesome as singularly congenial as the views, historic Black Range Lodge provided us with not just a bed and a breakfast, but an experience. Our night there... More

The visit started out friendly enough. We were given a tour of the Percha house. That night during our dinner, the owners just walked in, helped themselves to our food, set on the couch, turned the volume up on the tv and ate. Family trying to get baby to sleep downstairs, and the owner barges in turns on all the... More

Every day I learn something, and in the case of this guest, I clearly didn't communicate properly. I believe the most serious concern was a misunderstanding about the costs involved, which I discovered only as people were checking out. There was a wedding that weekend, and the groom's family shared the Percha Creek House, a separate 6-bedroom home across the... More

Beautiful building, delightful hosts, lovely room. Great food and conversation. Note: no cell service. Wi-Fi works fine. Loved it. We will stay again. More

I've been staying at the guest house for two weeks, writing a screenplay, enjoying this magical place and wonderful people. It's been like heaven on earth. I'll never forget... More

I've been staying at the Black Range Lodge for years. I love returning to its warm embrace. True, it's not fancy, but it feels like a home in the welcoming woods. Recent renovations have made it all the more inviting. Outdoor spaces have been freshened up, and rooms have been improved. The breakfast is as hearty as ever with fragrant... More

My husband and I are retired and I am in a wheelchair. Our favorite getaway is to stay in Kingston, New Mexico, at the Percha House, across the street from the Black Range Lodge. The house is handicap accessable, with full kitchen, comfortable living-dining room with dish TV, and a full porch across the front and back with spectacular views.... More

Rustic and charming in an earthy and comfortable style. Not your fuffy b and b but has the feel of the old west . I loved having breakfast with Tom and with the locals that dropped by for coffee or a bite. The weather was delightful and was such a break from the drippy NW where we live . Next... More

It is difficult for me to describe how bad this "inn" is. The website gives such expectations. The place is a dump. The breakfast was moldy fruit, a half empty old box of cereal and a broken coffee maker. Do it yourself of course. The area around this "lodge" was a junkyard. The idea of a place to stay in... More

The Black Range Lodge is beautiful, historic lodge. It has been lovingly restored and the owner Catherine is a very friendly, sweet host. There were positives and negatives, though, depending on what you are looking for. This place is very rustic. Positives: -History -Farm and nature surroundings. The lodge has an interesting green house and lots of outdoor space, garden... More

After the Lodge in Silver City were staying at closed, we desperately tried to find a new place to stay at. Unfortunately, nothing looked very nice, and a little too expensive. After almost giving up, we found The Black Range Lodge ( BRL). It looked all right and it was surrounded by greenery and hills in their pictures. But in... More
