We loved the building, gardens and location but the room was a disappointment. Although we had a four poster bed, the decoration was in need of updating. We were staying in one of the rooms overlooking the gardens, and the room was delightful. A large four poster bed in a traditional Scottish stately home is something to be experienced. The food was superb and the staff could not have been more helpful. more

Stopped at the Auchen Castle Hotel on the way up to Loch Lomond - it's perfectly located for this, being just a few minutes from the A74 but surrounded by trees and countryside so it feels as if you're in the middle of nowhere.
