The best part about the lodge is the fireplace and board games in the common area (lobby?) since there are no tvs in the rooms and not much to do in the woods after dark. We stayed at the John Muir Lodge for one evening on our honeymoon. The location is perfect, a short walk to the main touristy-tree viewing area. Comfy large room in a stunning national park. The restaurant has normal prices, friendly and efficient staff but lacks atmosphere. The John Muir Lodge should have Wifi in the lounge, it was however not available during our stay. This is a great basis for exploring the Sequoia and Kings Canyon national parks. more

With a restaurant and small market very close by (walking distance), this lodge is the perfect spot to stay at while exploring Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks. As Park lodging goes, the Muir Lodge is fairly good. The rooms were nicely decorated and relatively clean. Coffee maker in room, with tea also. Shower was good with plentiful towels. It's truly sad that this is the only optionon the north side of the park unless you want to drive 90 minutes or more out of the park. Check-in is VERY inconvenient.
