We spend a week at East Portal in Early July 2011. We traveled in a pop-up with our four children ranging in age from 8 to 2. Three items stand out in my mind as being the most alluring parts of this campground. If you’re (I’m sure most people are) visiting this place to be close to RMNP, and want... More

I camped here for three nights and it was my first time camping alone. The hosts at the campsite were extremely helpful and friendly. I did not have a car, the hosts were kind to store my food at the office for the night. The east portal trailhead is at the campsite entrance, and you can enter the rocky mountainational... More

We camped at the Estes Park Campground at East Portal over the Labor Day weekend. We arrived Thursday evening and left Monday morning. We were camping with 4 adults and 3 kids under the age of 4. We couldn't have been happier. We were in site 39 and had plenty of shade. We also had a nice ravine behind the... More

Our family of 4 tent camped for several nights in this great campground. The camp hosts were friendly and went above and beyond to make sure our stay was good. Ice and Firewood were available on-site for a reasonable price. The showers were clean and hot, and despite there being only 2 showers, I never needed to wait in line.... More

We stayed here last week and LOVED it! The bathrooms were clean and showers were hot. The staff were very nice and knowledgeable. There was ice and firewood for sale on site. The campground has by far the most rustic and natural location around....there were trees everywhere. Elk and deer grazed within 15 feet of our site. Even though it... More

We camped in early August, and stayed in a tent with no hookups. Our campsite was at the bottom of the mountain and offset from the main area, which was perfect other than walking up the mountain to get to the bathrooms, but we wanted exercise anyway! The views from the campground are beautiful and it is very quiet at... More

OK, I get this is a rustic campground in the mountains, but come on - NOWHERE on our teeny campsite was anything close to level to pitch our tent. The whole site inclined. There is primitive, no frills camping, and then there is this campground. Not much difference. We made do for 3 days, but that wasn't the worst. The... More

Stayed in EPCG(East Portal) for 5 nights. Tent camped w/H20 and Elec. Saw several people with midsized (17-20 ft) campers not be able to get into sites. Descriptions of sites are very misleading and they are laid out terrible. Showers are terrible, if you turn around in them you bump the controls and either scald or freeze yourself. Very small,... We are avid campers and loved the Estes Park Campground. We have stayed there twice - both times in October (2008 & 2009) for an entire week. It is very rugged and casual of a campground with few amenities. That's what I love about it! The campground is situated at the end of the road with the sites are built... More

I have stayed here off and on for a number of years. The bathrooms are always clean, and while not every spot is perfectly level, it IS on a mountain after all. The Park Service is very strict about fires, you sign a contract saying you will put it out, so do it! Yes, sometimes the people party a little... More
