You'll find this campground on the Hartnet mesa 12 dirt road miles from hwy 72 and 30 dirt road miles from hwy 24. You will find 6 widely separated sites, with a pit toilet, all with tables and firepits. There is no water or trash so bring your own water and emergency supplies and carry out all your trash. There is no charge or posted length of stay.
It was a little chilly on the mesa top when we were there, but I imagine in the summer it would be a better cooler place that the valley floor. There are two campsites nearer to the edge of the mesa from where, with a short walk, you can view the Upper Cathedral Valley. Pick those if they are available.
I stood on the edge listening on a calm morning and I could hear nothing but my heartbeat and breath.
