We spent 2 nights at this campground, and although it was full it was very peaceful. It is a national park so there are no showers, but the bathroom facilities are very well maintained. There is a pay shower right outside the enterance so if you are staying longer Id assume you could visit here. A great choice for camp.

My wife and I just spent 6 nights at the Blackwoods Campground. I will comment on the practical aspects of the "experience" rather than the beauty, etc., etc. Others have waxed poetically about that. It is beautiful there. First, it is a national park and as such you get the responsible and the losers. I know, I know, I am... More

My husband & I just got back from 4 nights at Blackwoods campground-- overall we had a great experience. Like other reviewers, I think my most major complaint was that I was not able to pick my own campsite (the rangers assign one for you when you check-in) but they did ask for my preference on bathroom location, & they... Acadia National Park Camping at Acadia is just awesome and fun but does have its drawbacks. The bus service from the park to the Loop and into the town of Bar Harbor is really a great service as driving around Bar Harbor is truly an adventure/nightmare depending on how you look at it. When cruise ships are in there are... More

Just got back from back from camping at Blackwoods. The first thing that would have made it a better stay would to have some say in what site you get.The ranger said it was a nice big site close to everything. And it was.The Bathrooms right across from the site as well as the Dumpster. The shore path right next to the site.Now... Was lucky enough to get a site without a reservation. Lindsey in the Campground office was fantastic. The park and sites were very clean. Bathrooms were also acceptably clean. There are no shower facilities so just know that ahead of time. Inexpensive, enjoyable way to experience ANP!

While I prefer back country camping, Blackwoods is great as far as national/state park car camping grounds go. The rangers are generally friendly and definitely helpful. Lots of programming offered particularly geared to families but informative for any nature lover. The sites are well placed and while none are private you can still feel like you are in your own... We stayed at Blackwoods Campground for a week. The location is very great: a few minutes by car or bus from Bar Harbor, the Loop Road, most trailheads and the ocean. One couldn’t ask for more! Though we didn’t take the bus, there’s one stopping at the campground. Being near to most trailheads’ parking, we never had difficulty finding a... More

My husband and I recently enjoyed three nights at Blackwoods Campground in Acadia National Park. We were very pleased with our reception from the check-in ranger, our assignment to a lovely forested site only a 10 minute hike to the Atlantic, the complimentary use of clean fuel buses to sites around the park (thanks to L.L. Bean), the opportunity to... More

We enjoyed our stay at Blackwoods campground. Our site was a good size spaced a good distance from the campsites on either side of us. The bathrooms were nearby and clean. No showers though had to go down to just across the entrance of the campgrounds and use a coin operated shower that was very clean. Was very quiet at... More
