This inn is run by a very friendly, young couple, with a family. From the moment we arrived we felt as if we were visiting friends. ("Pop down for a coffee and a chat!".) We stayed here in august 2010 as it came highly recommended, however the service was extremely poor. I ordered the special birthday package - the website promised a gourmet chocolate cake. As a young couple doing things, my husband and I have always found that young people never get much respect, whether if we are traveling, going out to dinner, shopping, but here we were treated with respect. We booked by cellphone while on the road. We were pleasantly greeted, our luggage taken up to our rooms , our money taken and were given advise on the sights on the island. The Belle of the Bay Inn is a gem on an island that offers little else. It wasn't very busy when we were there - but the room was beautiful and extremely comfortable. Only spoke briefly with the Inn keeper...he didn't have much to say. The Inn sits on a hill overlooking the Bay. Not much else on the island,... More

Thank you for the very positive review - it is much appreciated. The island has a fascinating history and many wonderful attractions - the miners museum (was largest iron ore mines in British Empire until closed), Seaman's Memorial (ships torpedoed off pier during WWII), murals, beaches and great vistas. We stayed here before their busy season. Bed was very comfortable. The room were very stylish. A little understaffed but not surprising for Jun2. Very quiet and comfortable and quaint. More
