The Beaches of Ratnagiri are awesome and if you don't believe me, so did I when I was first told about them.
The water was cleaner than Goa beaches. I went 5 feet into the beach and I could still see my feet under the water. The sand colour is similar to Goan beaches, but some silkier and doesn't stick much.
The best part is the Ocean Beach Road. I took the one between ratnagiri town and Ganpatipule and the views of the beach and ocean from the hill roads are extraordinary. You can park your car and get down and relax enroute.

Now the hotel, the property is divided into 2-3 parts. 1 is the spa region atttached to the beach, the other is the villa/pool/restaurant part and the 3rd is the expansion part.
The rooms are clean and big. They are plush. I'll rate this hotel as a 4 star and not a 5 star.
