An unexpected night's stay in Sambalpur led us to the Uphar Palace. Very friendly check in staff and room staff. The rooms are a little cluttered and messy with slightly smelly air conditioners. But there's hot water at least. The restaurant is good but not open in the morning. Breakfast is served in the room. Try the paratha. No bar but there's an off license just down the road so you can preview your experience at breakfast. There are other, newer hotels and this one is a little close to the mosque where early morning prayers can be a bit of a wake-up call. More
