We were given a night away for a birthday present and chose to stay at The Old Cider House as it wasn't too far from our home and had good reviews-we were not disappointed. We did a lovely walk, in a gale but no rain, around Lilstock, taking in the 2 churches and the beach. (Download the walk from Nether... More

We had originally booked the place before, and despite the hosts warning us that bookings weren't changeable we had a minor family emergency and couldn't go that weekend. After a bit of wrangling with them, they eventually changed their minds and let us change the date, so thanks very much for that, although not sure why they took such a... More

Thank you for taking the trouble to write a review and we are glad that you enjoyed your stay. Just in case guests take your comment about traffic the wrong way, Nether Stowey is a village bypassed by the main road and is peaceful with only minimal local traffic. We're very glad that you enjoyed the breakfast and you are... More

Went on a weekend beer brewing course at this delightful, excellent value B&B. Highly recommended even if you are not a beer 'nerd'. Ian and Lynne are superb, natural hosts. Je t'adore labrador Ozzie. Surrounding area has lots of attractions. More

We spent four night at The Old Cider House with our two dogs and had a really lovely time. We had a lovely warm welcome on a dark october ev. Our room was spacious, with plenty of room for the 4 of us. We had the ground floor room which gave us easy access to the outside rear carpark and... More

It 's always nice when guests say appreciative things after their stay particularly about our food. We try to source as much of our produce locally with bacon & sausages from our local butcher here in Nether Stowey, fresh new laid eggs from our chickens and vegetables from the garden. More

On arrival we received a warm welcome from our hosts, Ian, Lynne and Ozy the dog. Nothing was too much trouble and it was such a pleasure to stay in such a friendly place. Our room, which overlooked the garden and courtyard, was very quiet, clean and well-equipped with hospitality tray, magazines and comfortable beds. Ian and Lynne really know... More

We have just got back from a two night stay at The Old Cider House and I cannot praise it highly enough. The hosts were fabulous and nothing was too much trouble for them. We had our 15 year old dog lucy with us and I think she was made to feel even more welcome than us! She had home... More

It's always lovely to get reviews like this. Our Labrador, Ozy, loves having dog guests and the Quantocks are one of the most dog friendly destinations in the UK. Review also reminds us that we need to make more home made dog biscuits as we have just run out. More

Six of us stayed for a weekend and had a great time. Ian and Lynne were very friendly hosts. The rooms were well equipped and they obviously take a pride in the standard of their cooking as the breakfast was perfectly cooked. The previous adverse comments about noisy plumbing appear to be exaggerated as none of us found it intrusive... More

Great group - we seem to remember having to adjudicate on the quiz, and we even found a bar of chocolate for the winner. The West Somerset Railway is a lovely day out, open most of the year and the Rover ticket is really good value. they even allow dogs. More

Holly was so pleased that she was taken to the dog friendly Old Cider House. Lynne and Ian were so friendly and attentive to ensure that we had a lovely stay. However the dog biscuit goes to Ozy the Labrador who welcomes all dogs and is equally as friendly and very lovable. A very memorable and pleasant experience. The Old... More

So pleased that Holly enjoyed herself. Nether Stowey is a really dog friendly place with all three pubs allowing dogs and practically every other pub in the area doing the same. To keep up to date about what going on in the Quantocks search for our community sites - Dog Friendly Quantocks on both Twitter and Facebook. More

I have been here before on business several times , but this time was for a short weekend break, with my long-term girlfriend. We enjoyed the walks around the quantock hills, as was as the picturesque village of Nether Stowey. Lovely, home-cooked food, from home-grown produce and local suppliers, Clean, comfortable rooms, and friendly hosts, very highly recommended. More

It is always nice when business guests come back as leisure guests and can spend a bit of time enjoying the wonderful Quantock Hills. Of course, even if you are on business, you can always take a half hour stroll around Nether Stowey before dinner to work up an appetite. More

Best features are wonderful warm atmosphere, comfortable bedroom in quiet street in very pretty village. Home cooking at its best served with quantities of Merlot (or I guess anything else you might fancy). Wonderful countryside for walking, beautiful coastline and villages with pubs galore! Lynne and Ian are very good hosts with great sense of humour ...so just visit to... More

Thank you for this review and for mentioning all that the Quantocks have to offer. We are very lucky here to have the Quantock Hills on the doorstep, with the coast a few miles up the road. Fantastic human and dog walking country, relatively unknown and unspoilt. Ah – the Merlot! Drunk alfresco on a balmy evening in the garden.... More
