The dutch hosts took over the management of this lodge in 2004. They are a little unorganized. There is no sign on the road indicating the lodge's location. Also: no internet available at all. The lodge itself is pretty unique. You sleep in one of 3 wooden cabins right in the canopy and feel like in an old adventurer movie.... More

I found the casa rio blanco via tripadvisor and after having a very friendly email exchange with the owners on my reservation, I stayed there in December during our 3 week trip and I can best summarize it via one word: Precious. - Costa Rica offers a lot of great places of nature, you can't miss it but the Casa... I have stayed with Herbie and Annette three times and cant wait to go back! Very quiet, lush location, private rustic cabins right above the Rio Blanco river and immersed in the forest! The property is fenced and very secure. The grounds are very well maintained. The food is great and Herbie and Annette and great fun! At night the... More

We had two cabins here and rustic is what they are. There is plenty of space and when the rain drops parted for us, the scenery over the tree tops and the walk down to the river were worthwhile. Annette and Herbie are kind and helpful. We had a few problems and they did their best to rectify the situation.... More

I was there with my family during the low season (October) and we had the best time. Owners are very friendly and made sure we were taken care of. All of the cabins are private and you are literally right in the jungle. The proerty is fenced in so we felt very safe. They have a path down to a... More

Great place to visit. Very nice cabins with a beatifull view over the rain forest canopy. What way to wake up in the morning and relax in the afternoon watching the toucans just in front of the veranda. Nice swimming pool in the river. Very friendly and helpful owners. More

The owners are a very sweet couple. The cabins are rustic with great porches to sit and listen to the river which runs down below or the birds and bees. The hike to the swimming hole is a good way to cool off and have some fun. The optional costa rican dinner cooked by Annette was delicious and breakfast is... More

Found this place when we were planning to drive ourselves towards Tortuguero and was looking for a place close to the boat dock at La Povana. Casa rio blanco is about 1-1.5 hours way. It is a very beautiful and unique place. They have wooden cabins facing the forest over the river. The cabins do not have glass windows just... More

We turned up late, without a reservation, tired and hungry. Within minutes we'd been welcomed in shown a gorgeous little room, had a shower and been cooked for. Nothing could have been too much trouble for the generous hosts who made us feel so welcome. One of the owners even took the time to take us out the next day... More
