My husband and I along with 2 friends just spent 2 night here. The front desk man was very nice and spoke a little English. We had a master villa on the first floor with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a combined living room, dining area, and kitchen with another sitting area joined to the LR by a door along with... More

We're just back from a few days in Laguna Bacalar. Our first night we stayed in Villas Baclar - the cheapest room / "suite" they had was 1,500 pesos which is over twice the price of other hotels / hotelitos in the area. The person who checked us in, who i understand was the owne,r was extreemley rude and didn't... More

available, it was only offered after numerous queries at the office. Good things: thWe expected more for the price. Beds were fine, but there was nothing comfortable to sit on, and we had a sitting area. The only thing in it, the futon, was stuck in open position. There was no drinking water provided, only one 500ml bottle for 2... More

Just back from a short 24 hours visit to Laguna Bacalar from our rented condo in Puerto Aventuras following advices from passing travellers. Experience unique and exciting for who wants to get off the beaten path and live an exotic experience. The road from Tulum to Laguna Bacalar very different from the Carretera Cancun-Tulum. Very boring, not much to see,... More

January 2009. This is a beautiful hotel nestled amongst extreme poverty. The worst part of it is finding it. Going south on Highway 307 turn at the 2nd Pemex Gas station on the left and continue toward the lagoon until you are about 2 blocks from the water. Look to your right and you'll see a miniscule sign identifying Villas... More

We just got back from our trip which included a stay at Villas Bakalar. Fernando was great!! His hotel is very clean and beautifully kept. Laguna Bacalar is truly a gem! they say it has seven colors but I think there are more. Not many tourist so the beauty is somewhat untouched. Fernando set us up with a boat trip... More

My wife and I recently spent 2 nights at Villas Bakalar. Booked our room directly with Fernando. Suites are big, airy, clean and have brand new appliances. Junior Suites have 1 bedroom, kitchen, living area and a balcony. Master Suites have 2 bedrooms and can accomodate 4 people. Bathrooms have a large shower with a big rain-type shower head. Villas... We took a weekend away and chanced upon Bakalar Villas. There are a number of tatty-looking hotels that haven't evolved since the 1960's, and then there's Bakalar Villas. Rather than being on the water, it's on the opposite side of the street with stunning views of Laguna Bacalar. The hotel is very new and many rooms are still under construction.... More
