The hotel is pretty, though needs some face lifting, but is very clean! The staff was wonderful, especially at the restaurant, where breakfast was beautiful, overlooking jungle and river ( we saw a sloth!) Hotel was nice and clean. Nature walk is pretty and Frank is great.... However... it is just really way too far out of the way. Nothing really to do their. Stay in the Aernal area... much more fun area !!! more

For the price, the Occidentel was a bargan. There are real Tucans on the property and an amazing mountain stream running ajacent to the property. Breakfast overlooking the jungle and stream every morning was unforgettable..The best part of the trip however was booking all of our daily excursions with Frank from Frank Tours! This hotel gives you the complete Puri Vida"rainforest" experience complete with natural hotsprings, exotic birds, snakes, sloths, frogs. The rooms are basic, nothing amazing, but I would hope you're not coming to this amazing country to sit in your hotel room watching TV. The massage was nice but the lady that did the massage used her bare hands to get cream from jar. I was thinking the whole time how many people had she used the same jar for. Did I get other clients dead skin, or did other people get my dead skin more

The one good thing would be the service. Everyone that worked there was very kind. On the other hand, the rooms were outdated, the T.V was tiny, the excerise room was awful, the treadmill was from the sixties, and the pools sucked. I will never stay there again. more

My husband and I could not have stayed at a more wonderful hotel. The staff, especially in the restaurant, was terrific. The grounds were beautiful. We loved being able to wake up at 6:00am and go down to the pool, hot tubs and sauna. We reserved all of our tours through Franks tours and could not have been more pleased.... more
