It is just over a year (Feb 2011) since we stayed at Wolwedans and we still talk about it as one of the best places we have ever been. Everything in the Dunes Lodge was perfect, as described by others. We too were lucky in that it had rained more than usual and the colours were just gorgeous. Large herds... More

Dear Guest How wonderful that you still recall the Wolwedans detail that delighted - one year on. As long as you were happy and enjoyed your stay, that's all a hospitality team can ask for - a satisfied client and an enthusiastic Wolwedans ambassador. Thank you for posting your response, and we hope that you will return to our shores... More

We spent 2 nights at the Wolwedans during our honeymoon and it was the highlight of the trip. The staff was super friendly, we got a private dinner evening with lots of candles in a tent - that was a dream. Game drives were very professional, food outstanding, and the tent very comfortable. All in all - just fantastic. We... More

It is comforting to the whole team, to know that their efforts have reaped rewards, and wonderfully motivating to strive to "delight every guest, every time", the Wolwedans way. Magic location: borderline between mountain and desert. This is the Orix Kingdom: you can see a lot of other animals, but this land belongs to the orixes. Zebras, dick dicks, bat eared foxes, jackals, ostriches and orixes of course, in the rainy season as cubs, and you can see them. Great lodge, beautiful "rooms", colonial common areas, good and funny... More

We have stayed at several Wolwedans lodges during several trips, everytime we experienced the magic of the desert: vast emptyness and invigorating sceneries. The Wolwedans team has made it an art of providing absolute luxury in an environment which tolerates very little human intrusion. To me this concept of hospotality is an example for all lodges. Bravo! We'll be back!... More

Dear Guest The luxury of unspoilt, wide-open spaces, solitude and clear skies does tend to dominate guests' senses during their stay. Our sincere thanks from the whole Wolwedans team for your kind words, and we promise to maintain our hospitality offering as sustainably as possible. Thank you, also, for saying that you will be back - we wish you many... More

After a 20km drive along a single-track gravel road you can leave your car and your cares behind as your personal guide escorts you to your luxurious tented accommodation. The level of service at Wolwedans is exceptional, and it is almost unbelievable that such a high quality dining experience can be provided in such a remote location. Our personal guide,... More

We stayed at the Private Camp in Wolwedans with our 3 young boys (ages 5, 9 and 11). Overall it was an enthralling and unique experience. The staff are fantastically trained and an exemplar of outstanding service in such a remote and inaccessible location. The stark beauty of the landscapes is awe inspiring and the design of the camp gives... More

Dear Cooper family Thank you for posting your review and for recommending Wolwedans as a destination, despite your experience of our out of the ordinary cold winter. In our fairly extensive LandRover fleet we only operate one closed vehicle for ballooning transfers, as these are done before sunrise. Unfortunately as you rightly pointed out, the vehicle was being serviced at... More

We booked for Dunes Lodge but due to limited availability were moved to Boulders Safari Camp instead - there is no Boulders on tripadvisor but from the photos I think they're quite similar in setup so will write the review here. The scenery is stunning, the lodge is very well setup with all the little touches to make you feel... More

Dear Guest Thank you for posting your review. During Winter 2011, mother nature reminded us of our insignificance, and delivered the harshest temperatures in decades. We apologize for certain basics not being in place immediately at the time of your stay, eg. hot water bottles, and heaters in the diningroom, as well as maintenance issues not being tip top. We... 1st day a delight.A stunning location. Staff are all, without exception, sweet and helpful. But when the sky clouds over the rather old school solar heating doesn't work, so no hot water, which we desperately needed in the coldest winter in recent Namibian history. The trucks are all open sided, except one, so a once in a lifetime balloon trip... More

Dear Mattarchat - thank you for your feedback, both complimentary and critical. As a result of your experience during a very extreme Winter week (seldom experienced before), we have invested in additional infrastructure to ensure that hot water is available during the few cloudy days we have each year in the Namib desert. In addition, a state-of-the-art solar installation will... More

Extremely highly recommended to us and one of the reasons we went to Namibia, and it certainly lived up to expectations and beyond. Very attentive team with an eye for detail - excellent food, excellent guide, and an unforgettable stay. Visiting in the wet season, rather unexpectedly the lodge was surrounded by shimmering grass rather than the desert we were... More

When driving to this property please be very careful on the road! Kudu often cross and jump into the pathway of your car. If this does happen it is better to hit the animal than to jerk the steering wheel to avoid it. My friend was just killed in an accident just a few kilometers from this lodge and we... More
