We stayed for three nights with Ian and Miguel in May 2011 and could easily have stayed longer. This is a real gem in a friendly small French town well located to enable our self drive tour of the World War 1 battlefields. Our hosts could not do enough for us in terms of providing advice and also a wonderful... More

We actually stayed at Le Macassar last August, we arrived on our motorbike amid wind and rain on a Sunday afternoon having spent the day travelling across the Somme visiting a number of the battlefields and memorials - very atmospheric. Nothing prepares you for the piece of paradise hidden behind the doors of an unassuming building front in a simple... More

A bit hard to find- they keep it a bit of a secret. Location, even on the street front, is quiet. The Place de la Republique has a regular market day which is great. Nice little town- pleasant cafe over behind the church and a great restaurant in the next village (Ian will direct). There is also a terrific restaurant... More

Le Macassar was definitely a highlight of our two week road trip through France. Hidden behind its gates is an art deco paradise where you immediately feel at home. Evening drinks and a chat was a highlight for me. Ian and Miguel are great hosts and you won't be disappointed. More

Le Macassar at Corbie in the Somme region of northern France is indeed an exotic treat. This glamorous B & B is well located for Australian visitors to the WWI battlefield sites at Le Hamel and Villers-Brettoneux. The accolades in other TripAdvisor reviews do justice to the luxury experience of Le Macassar and its beautifully designed surroundings. Ian and Miguel... More

I think it’s our fifth visit to Le Macassar. Run by Iain and Miguel, it is a joy to visit. Whilst their house is beautiful and full of art-deco treasures, the reason for our return so many times is entirely due to the welcome extended by the hosts. They find the time to join all their guests in a welcome... More

We only spent one night here and wished we had more. Le Macassar is a really beautiful chambre d'hote and Ian and Miguel made us feel very welcome. The room was beautifully furnished and the bathroom luxurious. They even booked us a restaurant nearby (highly recommended) and arranged transport there and back for us as it was a special occasion.... More

From the moment you step over the threshold from the street, you realise that this is not just another place to stay. The ambience and decor is gloriously warm and the welcome is that of inviting you into a home. Our hosts are attentive without being intrusive and the balance between engaging you and allowing you to relax is perfect.... More

What a magnificent B&B, courtyard setting, and outstanding hosts, right in the heartland of the Somme and all it's history -- especially for Australians! More

Our stay at Le Macassar in June 2011 was a highlight of our trip to France and London. The hospitality of hosts Miguel and Ian was outstanding on it's own without taking into account the superb accommodation and breakfasts. Nothing was too much trouble and as a centre for visiting the Somme battlefields, Corbie is ideally situated. We could not... More
