Stayed at the Last Resort in the middle of January 2012, I was very impressed with the way Dave and Betty ran the the whole show, the accomodation was excellent, the food great, and the overall atmosphere very friendly and welcoming, I would highly recommend this establishment. More

There is a new management team at the Last Resort. Betty and Dave Watson are putting in a tremendous effort. They are wonderful friendly welcoming people. The Resort has been undergoing a huge makeover and is now classy and inviting. We can't wait to visit in the New Year!! What a difference New management can make. More

We have enjoyed the hospitality of the new management Betty and Dave, they are very friendly made us feel welcome. We enjoyed staying ar the Last Resort the small touches like red roses on the table, great hot bath, private covered patio with outdoor table to enjoy eating outside were a bonus. The room was serviced daily to a good standard... More

I stayed for four nights after finishing the Heaphy Track in November 2011. Betty and Dave Watson are the new managers and very good at what they do. I had a very enjoyable stay with great food, plenty of beer and friendly personal service. A most welcome place to stop and rest my weary bones. I encourage you to disregard... More

The light in the toilet did not work and the electric heater was very noisy and ineffective. The TV remote also did not work. The best thing about The Last Resort is the restaurant,... More

We stayed there for one night at Lodge ensuite. The atmosphere was nice, it has fire at the lounge room. The only problem was the mattress was run down, the spring was not working and sank in the middle of the bed. For the price we paid, it was not a good value at all, it was very basic in... More

It was very hard to get a hot shower, water temperature fluctuated form very hot to cold. Bed linen of inferior quality. Large amounts of waste timber from renovations outside motel units - a real eyesore!! Not a good image for a 'clean green' country. Restaurant meal and staff were of good quality. Very expsnsive at $130 per night, would... More

The good things about the Last Resort are the staff and the food - both were great. However, if you are staying in Karamea we would stay eat here and sleep somewhere else. The hotel site has a great plot of land by the river - but it does not make any use of this and all rooms face the... More
