Hibiscus House is truly an oasis - a beautiful compound with exceptional well-tended gardens. The rooms were well kept and the staff, to a man, were wonderful. Brufut itself is slightly off the beaten track, but I really believe that is a good thing in this instance - well away from all the over-developed, westernised hotels that capture none of... more

It seemed all the reviews for Hibiscus House were fantastic. We booked because we read "Holistic Treatments are available for residents and daily guests of Hibiscus House...." the owner apparently is a "trained clinical holistic therapist". As a therapist myself I thought this would be lovely. Day one; on hearing and seeing the way the owners treated the staff I... more

Thanks for your review. Please note that we are in the process of arranging more suitable taxis for the hotel, as well as ensuring our trips are better organised and guests are catered for on the boats. Regards Edward Webb

I stayed in a private residence in Brufut village but used Hibiscus House daily for meals, drinks and use of the Internet. This was my second visit and now know the owner quite well and most of his regular staff. I canot find fault with anything and would highly recommedn the place to anyone visiting Tha Gambia. 10 out of... more

We would definitely NOT recommend the Hibiscus. Our first impression of the pool and garden were good and we looked forward to spending a week there. However we were disappointed with our room, it was dark, dingy and shabby with a bath mat that should have been burnt! Cleanliness was not a top priority in this resort. However after our... more

Stayed at Hibiscus house for a week with my boyfriend. We had originally looked at package holidays with the big hotels, but as boyfriend not a fan of big hotels we decided to stay here instead. Firstly, the hotel is really lovely in terms of the communal areas and the staff are great, so friendly and helpful. The breakfasts are... more

This was out second trip to The Gambia. the first time 7 family members had stayed at The Senegambia - great in its own way but this time there were just the two of us and we wanted something smaller and more personal. Hibiscus House fitted the bill perfectly. There were only a handful of like-minded people there. The staff... more

We've just returned from 8 days in the Gambia based at Hibiscus, Brufut. The hotel is an absolute haven and staffed by the friendliest most helpful bunch of people! You are out of the main tourist hubub here - so don't expect a choice of bars and nightlife; we felt that this was a distinct advantage. The food is excellent... more

My boyfriend and I stayed at Hibiscus House for a week at the end of October to get some late sun and R&R. We were not disappointed!! Hibiscus House is a serene little oasis with only 7 rooms. When you enter through the gates the lush gardens make a truly peaceful and beautiful setting and the ever so willing staff... more

This is my third visit to Hibiscus House Hotel and I love it. Last year 2 elderly members of the cricket team from the Herefordshire /Shropshire border and their "WAGS" (myself being one) had a superb week casing the joint for likely venues to bring cricket to the Gambia. It was discovered they had a National team! This was going... more

You would never find it if you weren't looking for it. It isn't in Banjul, it isn't on the beach, and it isn't in any big tour operators brochure. So it is an ideal spot for anyone wanting to stay in Gambia and avoid most of the rest of the tourists. A little lush oasis tucked away. But once you... more
