This was the most interesting and exciting place we stayed during our three week trip. It takes a scary drive around rock landslides (one time we had to wait for them to clear the road) and then a grueling half-hour uphill walk (amazing it only took 15 minutes to walk down) to the spectacular Li-an Lodge. Owned and created by... More

Although it was foggy all the time during our one day stay, this hotel is the only place to stay if you do not want to make a two hour trip back and forth from Guilin. It is a small boutique hotel with very clean and quaint accomodations. The owner is a photographer who has travelled the world, and each... More

This lodge was definitely the best place we stayed at. I loved the creatively themed rooms. The food was great. The lacation view was phenomonal - well worth the long drive and walk up. A number of walks were accessible to us and we viewed the amazing rice terraces at a number of viewpoints. The staff were really friendly they... More

We stayed with our daughters in their twenties. We had a lovely welcome after our trek up to the hotel which would normally take about 1 hour but took us twice the amount of time as we had to help someone who unfortunately fell ill- -the nearer car park takes about 30 mins or you can trek for 3-4 hours... After more than an hour and a half trek, due to rock slides on the road, we finally made to this lodge and found it unimpressive. Rooms were tiny, the bathroom spartan, matress more on the side of a Yoga Mat, and poor quality linen and towels. Food was basic, but decent, accompanied by third rate wine. Service, however, was... It took 7 hours to drive from Yangshuo (with a stop at Longsheng Hot Springs), and the narrow curvy road, with numerous recent landslides and steep drop-offs, left me weak-kneed, but it was all worth it. At sunset we arrived at the Ping-An village parking lot and walked uphill for half an hour (porters carrying our luggage), past women washing... More

Hotel is about a 1/2 hr walk uphill from the parking lot, so it is not for everyone. But the scenery is beautiful, and more than worth the walk. Hotel was warm, and the staff was very welcoming. Located among 800 yr old terraces for rice fields on a mountain, hotel was unique. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It is undoubtedly... More

We arrived late in the evening straight from the airport after a bumpy drive and a hike in the dark up to this lodge. We were greeted by an open door, cheery staff, cold water and slippers. Diner shortly followed and an introduction to gorgeous rooms, each meticulously decorated with its own theme (rock, silk, etc). Later we took tours... More

Our stay at Li-an Lodge was a trip to paradise. The hotel itself is adorable, beautifully situated …the views are breathtaking. The meals, breakfast, lunch and diner better than at many top restaurants…the noodles, the dumplings.....soooo good! The staff incredible. They made us feel right at home. Thank you Lin and everyone else. Xie-xie!

I'm not in the habit of writing negative reviews (actually, this is my first) but our recent 2-night stay at Li An Lodge compels me to do so, if only to spare other guests' disappointment and save their money. The rooms themselves are fine and probably better than other hotels in the village, but not at this price! We booked... More
