A very interesting boutique hotel in this remote part of China.
We had the Calligraphy room. The room was smallish but this shortcoming was well compensated by the design and decor as well as the million-dollar view out of the windows. Our huge luggages were cleverly tucked under the beds due to the small riom space.
Dont expect 5-star facilities...

We had parents from England coming to visit us in April and decided to do the usual Guillin / Xian trip with them. We also wanted a new experience and had heard about the famous rice terraces. Our trip advisior suggested this boutique hotel and we stayed for 3 days / 2 nights. It was a lovely relaxing place to...

If you want a really fantastic experience, try staying at the Li-An Lodge. The lodge is a 30-minute walk through the village of Ping 'An in the rice paddies. When you arrive, local women come and take your bags up the hill on their back - that was quite an experience as well!
The rooms are small, but the amenities...

Our 3 night stay at Li-An Lodge felt more like being guests in a home, than simply a hotel. Rose and David were always on call, spoke perfect English, and were ready to do anything to make our stay more enjoyable. The meal selection was more flexible than past reviews indicated, all Chinese, including breakfast if desired. Simple but delicious....

We only stayed at the Li An Lodge for one night in March. The weather was cool and damp and the visibility wasn't great for part of the time. We stayed in the Celedon Room which has a great view of the terraces. The room is small but very comfortable with windows on two sides. We weren't feeling all that...

We stayed at Li An Lodge for 2 nights in January 2012. We stayed in the "Rock" room. The room was beautifully furnished and had a wonderful view of the rice terraces. It was very foggy while we were there (and it almost snowed) so we didn't get to see the full extent of the rice terraces which was unfortunate....

This was never on our original itinerary until someone recommended it, but it ended up being the highlight of a three week trip to china. WOW! What a wonderful experience from start to finish, our only mistake was we did not stay here long enough. Plan on two nights to really enjoy the environment.

The village of Ping An is situated in the mountains overlooking the dramatic Longji rice terraces. No roads lead into the village itself with parking below and the walk to the hotel takes about 45 minutes uphill. Porters are available for luggage at modest charge and for those unable/unwilling to walk sedan chairs can be hired too. As a picturesque...
