We have just returned from a 3 night stay in the River and Ramparts apartment. On arrival we had a warm welcome from Nicole. The accommodation was wonderful - every room beautifully and tastefully furnished and spotlessly clean. The location is superb, on the edge of a river with views of the picturesque stone bridge. Nothing could be more relaxing... More

It is a double-edged sword in writing this review. I am compelled to do it because Michael and Nicole truly deserve to be recognized for their extraordinary skills -- in providing beautiful accommodations and serving as wonderful hosts. But, having been blessed by this experience, I am shy about sharing. It was a perfect week for our group. We rented... More

Micheal, Nicole and dogs We visited the beautiful townhouse of Lagrasse a while back now with friends of ours and rented the top apartments for a week, Micheal was still busy then renovating the bottom apartments. When we arrived we were gobsmacked by the beauty and style of the townhouse and made comments of that the place was to nice... More

This is one of those places where you almost feel reluctant to post a review about as you rather selfishly don't want anyone else to know about this little gem of a retreat! Alas, my conscience has won out and made me feel compelled to share this with the masses. My husband and I stayed in the 1 bed apartment... More

Thiswas our second satay at this property - last June/July as a couple in the 1 bedroomed appartment for 2 weeks and this year in the 3 bedroomed apartment with friends for 1 week.....there was one big problem the second time around ....we only took the accommodation for a week! The appartments are exquisitelydecorated, the host very friendly and accommodating... More

This is a spectacular vacation rental in a picture-perfect French village. I stayed in the larger, three-bedroom Terrace Apartment with my husband and our two teenaged daughters, then returned with a friend the next year and stayed in the one-bedroom Ramparts apartment. What makes it special? One could spend a relaxing week just taking in the view of the river... More

The time and effort that Nicole and Michael have put into getting every detail right is obvious from the minute you walk through the front door into the courtyard. The white and neutral colour schemes of both apartments are relaxing and help get you in the mood to enjoy this quiet yet beautiful part of France. We stayed in the... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
House la France overlooks the Orbieu River in the beautiful listed village of Lagrasse. Easily accessible and just a short drive from Carcassonne, Toulouse, Perpignan Montpellier and Girona airports also Narbonne, the Mediterranean, Collioure and even Spain and the Costa Blanca. Swim in the river, go for a leisurely walk in the hills, a bike ride, sample oysters freshly plucked from the sea, or simply relax on the terrace and watch the sun go down. The Abbey Sainte Marie d’Orbieu, the origins of which date back to the VIII century, is just one of many attractions of this lovely and unspoilt village in an area steeped in Cathar history. There are six restaurants, two bars, an Epicerie, a Boulangerie, Pharmacy, Post Office and numerous pottery shops and galleries, all only a short walk from our front door as is the medieval (XIV century) covered market square where we have a weekly market selling a range of delicious organic and local produce including cheese, olive oil, fruit and vegetables, bread and more…The house, which forms part of the original village rampart walls, has been divided into two stylish and luxurious apartments available for holiday rentals. The Terrace Apartment has 3 bedrooms (all with en-suite bathrooms), 2 terraces, one of which is very large, and a bright and spacious living area. The River and Ramparts Apartment has 1 bedroom, a spacious living area and a lovely terrace/balcony from which to observe the local wildlife and the river trickling by. Access to the apartments is through the Riad-like courtyard. Once a cobbled lane, it now forms the shady and characterful courtyard in the centre of the house. If you would like more information, Nicole or Michael will be happy to help. ... more   less
