We stumbled across the Safari Motel at a pretty late hour and just wanted something that was fairly inexpensive. It was more than a pleasant surprise! The hosts were extremely friendly and caring (as well as helpful!)! The rooms were clean, enjoyable and functional (a mini-kitchen was included!)! And there were many special touches that you wouldn't see or have... More

We stayed (for the second time) for a night. As last time, it was clean, welcoming and tidy. Of course we forgot something (we tend to), were called straight away and had the shoes back two days later! Thanks ever so much :) Will be back on our next trip along SH1. More

I just popped in while driving by to get a room for the night. The hosts were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Grounds were very attractive (great for families). The room was very nice, tidy, clean and very comfortable. It certainly had everything I needed. The bed was very comfortable as well. I'll certainly be back the... More

Stayed at the Safari on Christmas Eve. We were upgraded to a room with cooking facilities but were still offered breakfast the next morning (even though it would have interrupted their Christmas Day). The room was really comfortable and the shower had great pressure. It is a traditional Kiwi motel, but thankfully with no breezeblock walls! For the $80 we... More

The Safari was just what we were looking for - basic, clean and affordable accomodation that was bought together with good ole fashioned hospitality. Tom & Di very accomodating to our needs of our group. More

Thoroughly enjoyed your accommodation set-up. Practical, functional, easy in-out, great rates, comfortable beds, extremely homely and hosts always approachable. We'll be back! Taihape had everything we required. Recommended to all military travellers. We came up for our son's Marching Out 27 Oct. PS Ron has travelled to 74 different countries so is well qualified to judge! We enjoyed the Irish... More

Finding the place was very easy, as it sits right on the main state highway. Therin lies a problem though, in that it is also quite noisy, at all times of the day (and night). Reception was very friendly and helpful. Room was simple, but very warm and cosy. Especially neccessary in this part of the country on a wintersd... More
