I would reccomend staying at this monastery to anyone visiting Koyasan, the rooms themselves are simple, with traditional matting, paper doors, and decor. My room had a view over the water garden at the back, which was a very peaceful place to sit and look out onto. The food served at the monestary was simple, vegetarian food, which, to my... More

We stayed here for 2 nights. When we arrived (before check in, 15.00) we could store our luggage. And we went in town to look around. When we came back to check in, our luggage was already in our room! Before we saw our room, we got a tour trew the temple by an english guide. You even have wifi!... More

The monastery buildings are atmospheric, with great gardens. My room was in the modern extension that has the nice onsen. It was comfortable but lacked charm. I went for the most extensive diner, and the vegetarian food was satisfying. One qualification is that compared with other places I stayed at in Japan, this was quite expensive. There is something touristy... More

Fukuchi-in was a beautiful and well-organised temple. We were greeted and shown to our room as well as all the facilities by a very well-spoken Japanese man. Our room was comfortable if not a little on the smallish side. We had a shared bathroom and toilet at the end of the hall. The inn has a wi-fi area, though we... More

We stayed in Koyasan for two nights and chose the Fukuchi-in on the Trip Advisor recommendations and we were not disappointed. After staying in Tokyo and Kyoto, we really wanted to enjoy a couple of days peace and quiet and see more of rural Japan and this was exactly what we got. Just the journey there in itself was a... We had a wonderful two day stay in Koyasan and our stay at Koyasan Onsen Fukuchi-in was flawless. A real traditional stay, the futons were very comfortable and the in room heater is just what was needed for the evening chill. The onsen is clean and the outdoor tubs, though small, are very pretty. The vegan food was absolutely delicious;... More

We stayed here for one night in early April with two kids (20m and 6yrs) to experience the traditional temple lodging and were looking forward towards the pure vegetarian Monk cuisine (Shojin-ryori), as it's very difficult finding dishes without fish/meat broth in Japan. We arrived before lunch time and could not check in yet, but could at least deposit our... More

If you are Koya-san I would highly recommend this temple lodging. It was one of our most memorable experiences while in Japan. the food was great, the people were friendly and the morning prayers were memorable. The Onsen was very clean and very relaxing. Location was easy to find right near a bus stop.

We stayed in Koyasan Onsen February of last year. It was, hands down, the best experience I've ever had for an accommodation. We've never been to an Onsen before but it felt like the staff went the extra mile to make an amazing memory for us. We booked through Japanican and everything went fine. Japanican was tops for booking this... More
