When we were back in Hakuba in early 2012 (and although staying elsewhere) we called back in to say hi to Craig and Matt at Morino Lodge. This prompted me to wonder why I hadn't written a review at that time. What I can say from previous experience while travelling with a large group, is that if you are looking... More

My wife and I recently stayed at Morino Lodge and even though this was our first time in Japan, they catered to all of our needs. From picking us up from the Gondola life to cooking yummy vegetarian food to giving us suggestions on places to eat and visit, this was truly one of the best vacations we have had.... More

My partner and I just spent 7 fantastic night staying at the Morino lodge and skiing in Hakuba. The lodge is warm, welcoming and affordable, with rooms that are cosy but spacious. The lounge is the perfect place to relax after a day of skiing over a beer while you decide which of the fantasitic local restaurants to go to for... More

We (a family of 5 from the UK) stayed in Morino Lodge for a week over New Year 2011/12. As others have said on TripAdvisor, the key to the success of our stay was the excellent and laid back hosting of Matt and Craig + team. The lodge is ideally suited for families and convenient for reaching the Happo One... More

Matt & Craig are great hosts at Morino. We (six people) stayed in a big warm tatami room. Great bar, cereal and fruit breakfast included. Good location, walking distance to Happo One. More

We stayed at Morino for just over a week for NYE and first week of Jan. It was a cosy, comfy place that came highly recommended and we weren't disappointed. Matt and Craig were very helpful and always around to help out as well as their other helpful staff who bent over backwards to ensure we had a great stay.... More

We (2 snowboarders, 1 non skier) stayed at Morino Lodge in December 2011 on a friend's recommendation. Other reviews have painted an accurate picture – being a small place and the ultra friendly staff Matt, Craig, Jen & chef Pat make the experience easy and satisfying. Being located next door to the free shuttle bus stop makes getting around easy.... More

We had the most amazing ski vacation in Hakuba whilst staying at the Big Bear Chalets (run by the Morino Lodge). The chalet itself was exactly what we were looking for. 2-3 bedrooms, private onsen, fully equipped kitchen, living area with digital tv and dvd. All located in the best area of Hakuba...Wadano village. The staff at Morino was outstanding... More

We`re a family of skiers (and one snowboarder) and have been all over the globe on ski holidays with some memorable ones indeed. This year we decided to see what Japan was all about and spent one week in Niseko and the next in Hakuba. It was a memorable experience indeed......in fact, we`re calling it our best ski holiday ever!... More

As committed Japanophiles it has to be said we don't normally go out of our way to stay at places owned and run by 'gaijin', but Morino Lodge is the exception that proves the rule. Matt and Craig (a Scot and a Canadian) set a wonderfully helpful, laid-back and friendly atmosphere so that within hours you feel like you're staying... More
