This is one of the best stays we have experienced in any country. We stayed as a couple and the highlight (besides snow monkeys!) was the exquisite hospitality of the staff. The accommodation is luxurious, peaceful, and relaxing. We enjoyed the food immensely and the overall privacy of our room and our own private dining room is very VIP. The... More

The reviews may seem too good to be true but there really is no catch - this traditional spa hotel is exceptional. The staff were extraordinarily friendly and attentive (and their English was surprisingly good); our room was enormous and traditionally decorated (think sliding doors, tatami mats and soft minimalism); and we had private indoor and outdoor spa baths (as... If you are in Japan, either for business or pleasure, I cannot recommend strongly enough making time to spend a least one night here. The rooms are beautiful, the food fantastic, the staff very helpful and you can relax in onsen

Lovely onsen, very friendly staff and reasonable English spoken Great location for walking up to the monkey park, remember - onsen means no bed, futon on the floor Note they meet you at train station - we missed their driver and paid for a cab

Must be included in any trip to Japan. We arrived early enough to drop off our bags at Jinpyokaku, (too early to check in) and walk to Jigokudani Snow Monkey Park where we spent most of the afternoon (another must see). Upon return check in was quick, our bags were already in the room. After tea we enjoyed the onsen,... More

On our visit to the Monkey Park (which is great fun), our guide chose this Japanese style hotel for our lunch. Everything about it was impeccable: the decorating, the gardens, the beautiful onsen, the delicious food, and the very attentive service in our private room. I would have stayed overnight in a heartbeat.

We spent two nights at this wonderful onsen in Yudanaka. Fabulous Japanes style apartments, incredible atention to detail by management and staff ensured we enjoyed a wonderful time. Breakfast and Dinner prepared by the owner and served in private dining rooms by lovely Japanese women was first class. The onsen at the Ryokan ensures complete relaxation and sitting in the... More

This place was ideal for us. We were looking for something that was not a large impersonal hotel. We were picked up at the Yudanaka train station by their complimentary shuttle which we had requested a couple days prior. The Jigokudani Monkey park is within walking distance. Dinner and breakfast were both outstanding. The food is what would be considered... More

Excellent service begins with a prompt pickup at the nearby train station, followed by welcome tea. Arrived in time to walk to monkey park and back, take a bath, and relax before dinner. Dinner was delicious, one with meat, the other vegetarian, served with impeccable style and grace. Staff was extremely courteous and friendly. Highly recommend this inn for those... More

The service was first class, the rooms beautiful, the food extraordinary and the hot baths wonderfully relaxing. I'd recommend it again, in fact I already have.
