I dined here recently and was disappointed.
The food is priced at a level one would expect of a Michelin starred restaurant, at around £30-40 a head for two courses. Yet it's basically glorified pub food.
The starter, langoustine tails, was ok, although the delicate flavour of the langoustines had been overpowered somewhat by the chargrilling. More of a concern...

My wife and I and family members dined at the Peacock Inn on Christmas Eve 2011 we were staying in a holiday cottage nearby and it was recommended to us by the cottage owner and I only booked the restaurant the day before. What a find we were so lucky to get a table. As soon as I walked in...

Very busy restaurant and managed to fit us in at short notice.
Charming reception, atmosphere, service, good food well presented, but a little overpriced.

Having heard from several friends and colleagues how lovely the Peacock was, my partner and I decdided to visit. It did not disappoint! Each of our 3 courses were cooked to perfection. The dining room had a wonderful atmosphere and the staff were very accommodating.
I would recommend The Peacock to everyone. Can't wait to go back!

If effort to make you welcome was marked, then this would come 2nd...2nd that is only to the excellent 1st class food that we enjoyed all weekend.
We arrived, the 4 of us, (me, wife, mother in law and father in law)....a little earlier than expected, it didn't matter as we got straight into the local beer & fish and...

The restaurant will appeal to unadventurous nay staid diners who seek food which has not been "mucked about". Locals who judge a meal more by the size of the portion on the plate rather than by its level of inventiveness
Dishes highlight the dilemma of pub restaurants with wildly fluctuating levels of trade.. Heavy reliance on bought in frozen portions...

The purpose of our visit was to celebrate a family birthday and we were not disappointed. We ate in the warm and inviting lounge having been offered a table in front of the log fire. Given the weather outside this was very welcome. Service was attentive and our food arrived promptly. All dishes lived up to our expectations including those...
