We stayed on Saturday 4th February for one night, having stayed in the Hunley at Brotton the night before. The room we were in (number 24) was in poor condition. The tiles on the bathroom floor were raised. The grouting had worn away and one of the tiles had lifted so much it cut my foot. The window in the... More

Although I have been to many Best Western Hotels in the UK and Italy - this one I found by accident - the experience could have been very sad as the next day was to be the funeral of my mother. We arrived late at night and found that our automatic gearbox was stuck in drive and therefore the car... More

I always stay here when I'm working in the Durham / Sunderland area as I love it so much. The hotel itself is set within a deer park and, unusually I find, the deer are tame enough to spend some time very near the house so you can actually see them quite easily. There is a large lake which has... More

Me and my husband were visiting family nearby and decided to spend a couple of nights as the previous reviews were so positive! We got 2 nights accommodation on a room only basis really cheaply however we expected more!! We arrived just before check-in (2pm) so decided to have lunch in the bar to kill time. Not really looking at... More

Wow - I have never seen so many deer! And never so many from a bedroom window. The hotel really is in a spectacular spot. I planned to walk over to the pub/restuarant but it was raining heavily. My room was large and comfortable with free high speed internet (via a network cable not wireless). The shower wasn't very powerful... More

Stayed two nights - wished we hadn't made plans to move on the next day, could have stayed longer. Fascinating place - Victorian gardens at the rear, leading through a gate to a graveyard and church. Lovely hotel and grounds, was amazed by the deer park, its statues of lions and the plinth with Bobby Shaftoe atop, and the fact... More

We stayed at the hotel for one night only but it was not enough... The staff at the reception were very nice and helpful. When i asked about the hotel itself, it's history lady from the reception printed out information about the hotel's history. The room was gorgeous with a beautiful view over the deer park... As a huge animal... More

Everything in my room creaked and groaned, the window wouldn’t stay up and the shower had very little pressure. Apart from this the hotel is quite nice. Breakfast was excellent, staff are freindly and the hotel grounds are amazing. You can walk among the deer on the way to the onsite pub and restaurant. The only downside was that the... More
