We stayed here overnight purely as we were eating in a restaurant locally and wanted a few drinks. What a great surprise the place was. We asked for the room with the 4 poster bed. It is a big room with a decent sized bathroom that has a full bath and separate proper shower. We asked for a bottle of... More

Your warm appreciation is very welcome - thank you. We pride ourselves on using the best of our excellent local produce so we're delighted that you enjoyed your breakfast with Rikki Lloyds's sausages and Fairfied Farm eggs. So pleased that the Town Hall Clock didn't disturb you but you'll no doubt be pleased to learn that at long last Montgomery... More

We were made immediately welcome and felt at home. The hosts went out of their way to help us. The food was delicious and plentiful. Our attic room had character and was comfortable and clean. The children loved the swimming pool and the sauna. More

Many thanks for your kind words and comments - very much appreciated. Our pool is always popular - especially with children but it is long enough for a bit of adult exercise too. Certainly stairs can be an issue here for some of our guests - anyone with mobility dificulties should let us know and we'll guarantee a 1st floor... More

over rated,i.e. duck leg, not half a duck! £18.95 just not value local beers served good elsewere . The hotel was clean and tidy and the staff were friendly but prices over inflated, as they are in this part of the world there are better options around if you travel a little out More

Thank you for your comments. I'm glad that you enjoyed the hotel and service but am dissappointed with your comments regarding the food and drink. Having checked what I believe to be your bill I find that you had 3 pints of our local beer - so presume it can't have been that bad, indeed we follow the CAMRA (Campaign... More

Living in Australia, we have seen delightful movies and Television series of quaint townships nestled among lush green rolling hills punctuated by craggy mountains, castles and forts. We have dreamed of seeing with our own eyes and experiencing for ourselves the true Great Brittain. With this in mind we selected for accomodation, The Dragon Hotel in Montgomery Wales as part... It must have been a Wednesday. The "Montgomery Irregulars" play Trad. Jazz, and much more in the hotel patio. We look forward to your return - we enjoyed your company and conversation. Many thanks - so glad you enjoyed your stay. More

The location is fantastic. A quiet town on the edge of picturesque hill walking country. A few minutes up the hill to the castle and a view of the valley where one of the battles of the Civil War were fought. Walk 30 minutes further on up the hill to the war memorial perched on a hill with a fantastic... More

Many thanks for your kind comments - Montgomery is just great for walking. Rolling countryside ruined castle - quiet lanes. Hope the dog recovered from all that exercise! More

Me and my girlfriend stayed here about 7 weeks ago as our relaxing break away. We both love Wales and found Montgomery to be a lovely town/village, if a little too English. My beaten up Land Rover didn't look out of place in Monty! Visit Bunners! It's incredible! We used Bartercard on this occasion and were pleased that we were... More

So glad you and your Australian friends enjoyed The Dragon. Interesting that you found Montgomery to be a bit English. Well I suppose that’s not surprising as we are 1/2 a mile from the border and Montgomery was historically in England, with what is our wonderful ruined castle on the hill above the hotel guarding the river crossing on the... Picturesque hotel, full of "old-world charm" - and that includes uneven, creaking floors, low beams, steep stairs, rabbit-warren direction finding and well-loved fixtures and fittings. If you want Hilton-style conformity you will be disappointed - but that's not what we were looking for. Plenty of car parking... decent size private car park, though for convenience we parked in front of... More

With a party of friends, including children, we spent a sunny November weekend in this historic small town among the Welsh hills. The Dragon Hotel was one of many buildings singled out by plaques recording their history. The owner and his wife were to the forefront of staff attending to our many requests with courtesy and speed. The ample meals... More

So glad you and your friends enjoyed your visit. Seasoning is always a matter of taste, however at our last AA review for our Rosette we were criticised for too little! Sorry if it was a little too much for your taste on this occasion. Many thanks for your kind comments. More

We stayed overnight: dinner, b & b. Lovely food, excellent beer and wine. What I particularly like about the Dragon is the emphasis on locally produced food and drink. The Penarth Pinot Chardonay was excellent. The duck legs were a touch overcooked but very tasty. Bed was very comfortable and the room, although small, was immaculately clean. We would stay... More

So glad you enjoyed your stay. We do try to keep it local where we possibly can. In an area that produces so much wonderful food and drink, it really is a pleasure to be a founder member of "Taste Montgomery". More
