We stayed at the Elms in March with out 18 month old son. Staff were exceptionally kiddy fiendly, food wAs above average, creche and spa are excellent. Some of the outdoors play areas are a bit tired as are a couple of spots on the indoor areas in the hotel. Overall though, would certainly stay again. More

Dear Guest Thank you for your nice review about the Elms. I am so glad that you enjoyed your stay. Thanks for your feedback regarding the interior and play areas. We are looking forward to a refurbishment programme later in 2012 and in to 2013 which should address this. Currently the plans are being drawn up and the time plan... More

I was invited to a birthday celebration in a private room at " The Elms". My first impression when coming up the sweeping driveway was "WOW!". The building is very grand and imposing. When I got inside, however, I was not so impressed. In the entrance hall there was a table covered in a filthy tablecloth and leftover food and debris.... More

Our long weekend stay at The Elms was a weekend well-spent and we would love to go back - soon!! Admittedly, we arrived just as springtime did too and so enjoyed a weekend with 20 degrees, perfect sunshine and blue skies, but The Elms and in particular its polite, helpful and great staff would have made a lovely weekend get-away... Its the second time I've visited the Elms. Love the freedom the children have at this hotel. Good Rooms and nice clean white bedding. Comfort Zone Products which I love. Some small parts of the hotel could do with an upgrade and it was a little disorganised when it came to dinner on the Saturday. But Room Service was good.... More

We've just returned from a weekend with our two young children (6 and 4) and their grand parents, and we had an excellent time. It really is a hotel to be enjoyed with children, so if you're a couple looking for a quiet break away, I would possibly suggest that this wouldn't be the ideal venue. We had two of... More

We are regular visitors to the elms for family meals and reunions, and have recently visited with a large group for sunday lunch. Food and service is excellent as always, with waiters always attentive and helpful. Atmosphere is refined yet relaxed, and the kids love the toys available to them and the lovely grounds they can explore while the adults... More

We had a lovely few days at the Elms at half term. The room was good and spacious, the staff helpful and accommodating and we could allow the children to be...well children without shushing them, tutting and the eye-rolling that normally ensues in other places. Everyone was helpful and friendly and went out of their way for us, locating tables... More

We have just arrived home after a fabulous weekend away with our children. It started as we arrived to a big welcome and offer of tea or coffee, when it came it had fresh cooked biscuits. We checked into a lovely clean room with big fresh fluffy towels in the bathroom. The view from our room was breath taking, the... More

The reviews divide between those staying with young children, and those without. Our party was five, grandparents, parents, and a twenty month old. For us it was a great success as our grandson absolutely loved it. We went in early February on the weekend of the heavy snow falls, and we didn't leave the hotel from Saturday lunchtime until Monday... More

Having informed the Hotel well in advance that we were returning after a 25 year absence to celebrate our 31st Wedding Anniversary and my Wife's 50 th Birthday we had high hopes based on our memories of this previously sophisticated and splendid venue. We arrived at 12.30 PM and were summarily dismissed by a very unfriendly person at reception who... More
