I took my family here on 24th October, and I would heartily recommend it to anyone who is seeking a comfortable, unpretentious rural bolt-hole in which they can be fed and watered to an excellent standard. The rooms were country comfy, all with spotless bathrooms. As some other reviewers have mentioned, they are not slap bang modern - but it... more

Unremarkable bedroom saved by the delightful view from being a disapointment. Dinner -- on the expensive side -- didn't involve terribly much food; dining chairs uncomfortable. Underwhelmed. more

What's on earth exercises the minds of restaurateurs like this? Good quality ingredients, skilfully cooked are fine, but not enough. Diners need to be fed. Our meal:a couple of slivers of smoked salmon, three small blinis + pickle and mustard (as in mustard and cress); then a miniscule piece of sea bass with a decoration of aubergine puree, a piece... more

We stayed here for a New Year break. It was actually our second stay, as we had previously spent a couple of nights here for a weekend break. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough - we have enjoyed every minute of our stays. It is located in a beautiful rural village and is itself a lovely old stone building... more

My husband and I were married on May 16th in Teffont and had our reception at the Howards House hotel. We had a lovely marquee in the garden and were even lucky with the weather! Noelle and her team provided an inobtrusive but attentive service throughout the day and the food was fantastic. So many guests complimented the venue, the... more

Teffont must be one of the most beautiful villages in England, and surely Howards House takes pride of place. This charming old building with magnificient gardens is truly a place to rejuvenate even the most cynical spirit. The welcome was warm and friendly, and the staff make one feel like part of a large family, without being overfriendly or obtrusive. The... more

This was our 2nd visit - last time was 4 or 5 years ago. I'm glad that this hotel is still going strong. The room was ok - it could do with some updating, it was comfortable enough. The evening meal was delicious, with an excellent wine list. And the hotel is set in a beautiful location. Unfortunately, the weather... more

Howard’s House is a small, genteel hotel located in an exceptionally beautiful and peaceful village. There is a sense of being in one of the last remaining enclaves of a now largely bygone England. Apart from this most appealing setting, the main attraction of Howard’s House is its cooking. The chef here eschews novelty and experimentation in favour of tried... more

Howard's House is a lovely old english house, set in a very peaceful and attractive village, about half way between Salisbury and Shaftesbury. The hotel has a very nice garden, which will look lovely in the Summer months. Our room was very confortable, the food was good (especially the cooked breakfasts which were very nicely cooked and not too large)... more

We found this place by happy accident through the tourist office in Salisbury. This is a postcard location and andexcellent hotel. The service is personal, the rooms very comfortable and the restuarnt excellent. The quaint town and surroundings are very quite and you feel you are in a movie set. A real find for us as we we had prebooked... more
