We were traveling with great friends from Brugge, Belgium, exploring the battlefields of WW1. This property is located on one of the only hills in Flanders. The view over Flanders Fields is absolutely stunning. The food was excellent (good price/quality ratio), although pricey. This was the best dinner (lunch) my wife and I have ever enjoyed in our many trips... More

Wonderful hotel/restaurant on the top of one of the only hills in Flanders. The view is simply stunning. Great food and wine with excellent service. Cycled from Ypres, approx. 40mins., the last 0.5km is hilly - starts at 11% and quickly goes up to 20%, ( I later found another road - but that was 23%) also cobbles (paves) which... More

The Hostellerie Kemmelberg, is a beautiful art deco esk hotel on top of probably the only major hill in Flanders. The view of the surrounding countryside is astounding. The hotel is very comfortable, the lady that met us at reception was very welcoming and helpful, the rest of the staff we met were polite but no more. The room was... More

Hostellerie du Mont Kemmel is heaven on earth. This restaurant overlooking the Flanders has a breathtaking view. Very warm and elegant dinner place. The chef is the Lady owner and she is doing a great job. Well balanced ingredients with a classical undertone makes it superb. Try the lobster Cendrillon. Although very classic and creamy, we just loved it. We... More

Great food (excellent price/quality), super wines of the region...service sometimes a bit "unhandy"...but always very friendly! And you get a wonderful view of the region on top of the hill....with nice weather you can see the french boarder.

Great view at breakfast, staff at check in very helpful, but looked more like a 3 star than a 4 star in my opinion, bit old fashioned rooms, quite clean (however found a beer crown next to the bed), door couldn't be locked (not ideal if you have a computer and no in room safe). Didn't use the restaurant (apart... More

Staying in this quaint hotel was probably the best short reak I have ever had despite the country. My father-in-law was on the search for his long lost uncle who was killed in WW1. It was a great adventure to find out about him. The weather was great and the history is amazing. The hotel is dog friendly too which... More

Like bkegel, I got to the Hostellerie by bike, saddlesore, weary, and with few expectations. Extremely comfortable, well-appointed room with a breathtaking view from the sunlit balcony of the fields of Flanders. Attentive, friendly staff. All the noises I heard were the birds celebrating late spring. Gourmet dinner, well priced for its quality, and in the morning a lavish buffet.... More

Over the years my family and I have stayed at Kemmelberg many times. When we get off the motorway at Ypres and get close to Kemmel, it is always a feeling of coming home. Erwin and Salonge and the staff cannot do enough for you and the view from our balcony is outstanding. Thank you all again for making us... More

First let me qualify that I arrived at the hotel via bicycle and after a long day in the saddle the climb required to get to the hotel made me curse the hotel before I walked in the door (in other words there is a really steep climb to get to the hotel). That being said I couldn't have been... More
