I'm a bit late in posting this review, but the great memories we have of this stay have not diminished. We were in Paris in October. Feeling the need to get out of the city for a few days, we decided to follow up on a recommendation to stay at La Ducrei. WHAT A BLAST! It far exceeded our expectations... More

If our vacation was only the three nights we spent at La Ducrie with Joe and Vivien it would have gone down as one of the best in our 15 years of travel. The laughter, stories, jokes and meals were like going home to family. The rooms at the castle were awesome. Meals were exceptional. Breakfast conversation was first class.... More

We had an unfortunate start to our holiday. We lost a bag containing mobile, bank cards and holiday money en route to Le Ducrie. Viv and Joe couldn't do enough for us. When our chips were down they were truly amazing. We stayed in la chambre salle de monnais, a room with immaculate decor in keeping with its rich history.... More

La Ducrie is a beautiful and historic castle that the owner proprietors, Vivien and Joe, have made incredibly comfortable and welcoming. We had connected rooms with our kids, but each room had its own modernized bathroom. Vivien and Joe create an experience for their guests that is personal and unique. We were enriched by the opportunity to get to know... More

Joe and viviene are great hosts who made us very welcome during our stay. The rooms are very quiet and at a high standard. The evening meals were exceptional. It was equivalent to a top resturant. A lovely location in a wonderful area of Normandy. Will definately visit again. Highly recommend. More

My wife and I spent 2 nights at La Ducrie the beginning of June and wish we had spent more time there. Located close to the village of Le Hommet-d'Arthenay the history of La Ducrie dates back to the 1400's and Louis XI and the owners, Joe and Vivienne, are well-versed in that. The service was exceptional and we felt... More

This is an experience that was the highlight of a trip to France. Joe and Vivian made me feel at home from the moment of arrival. They have an amazing gift of hospitality. The accommodations are warm and inviting. Joe is an experienced guide for the area and certainly is up to date on all aspects of the history of... More

We spent a night at La Ducrie during a Normandy tour and had a wonderful time. The proprietors are charming, amusing hosts, who make you feel very much at home. Their lovely, 600 year old castle retains many interesting, original features. The host also gives tours, and we wish we had known this, as the guide we used was not... More

From the moment we arrived we felt that we were with old friends. Joe and Vivienne were the best of hosts. Vivienne's cuisine (we had 2 dinners) was superb and Joe's tours were full of interesting information. He drove us to the Normandy beaches, the American cemetery, Bayeaux, and Mont St. Michele in his van. Staying in a 600 year... More

We visited Normandy and stayed at La Ducrie based on the recommendation of friends. We were not disappointed! The stay in the castle was fun and interesting and we were right in the center of the Normandy area. Joe and Vivienne were great hosts, like old friends as we arrived and until we left. We had dinner at La Ducrie... More
