Stayed here for one night after walking from Competa via the "Walk of the High Axarquia". It's beautifully situated in the main square of this small village. The rooms are nice and clean. The price I paid (€45) was a little high, especially since I didn't get breakfast (I had to catch the 9 am bus on a Sunday). The... More

We found Posada La Plaza a perfect place to stay. Situated on a pretty little square in the lovely village of Canillas de Albaida. Gustavo the owner was friendly and helpful and our room overlooking the square was clean, comfortable and atmospheric. The view from the terrace was superb and sitting there with a drink from the honesty bar was... More

This is a review only of the restaurant, not the hotel accommodation. Canillas de Albaida is a very attractive, somewhat remote, village in the Axarquia region NE of Malaga. The square, which is pedestrianised, is dominated by the restaurant, the hotel, the ayuntamiento, and an attractive little church (not open very often but worth a look inside if you can).... More

In the summer you sit in a lovely little square that is edged on one side with a tiny church, the hotel rooms on another and an amazing flower strewn house on the other. In the Winter you sit inside - ask for the top floor where there are stunning views from two full sized windows - one side to... More

Great base for our organised walking holiday which included the St Anton festival in January - blessing the animals. Jacuzzi is now enclosed so we made good use of it, the sauna and Turkish steam room, after a days walking. Not only was the local food excellant, including some wine tasting around the valley, but one of our group went... More

Maybe I came across owner Gustavo in a bad mood which lasted all week but he was very very unhelpful indeed. Maybe some rooms have nice views but number 9 certainly doesn't as it overlooks a gloomy courtyard. That would have been tolerable but what was unforgiveable was a continuous drip of water from a gutter into a bucket on... More

In a square that is pretty as a picture. Gustavo and family are friendly and helpful. Pretty, clean, friendly, food is great. The only problem was that I had to leave. Many thanks to all at the Posada for a great stay. More

We have just returned from a week at this lovely hotel. It was chosen as the base for a walking holiday by an adventure company specialising in group holidays. Our room, whilst small and at the back of the hotel, was clean and atmospheric. The hotel has been converted from a convent having only 9 bedrooms and managing to retain... More

We stayed at this charming hotel for the 2nd time (our third visit to the village) and I was slightly reluctant to write a review as we don't want too many people to know about it - they might not have availability the next time we want to stay! - but then I decided not to be so selfish. Posada... More

This is a great little hotel. Rooms are lovely and clean. Really great views from the balconies over the square - great views from the rooftop. Has some great character to it. More
