We were looking for a 'country pub' type stop over and from the website this looked to fit the bill. The village of Great Broughton is quiet and clean and has some lovely properties so was nice for an early evening stroll after dinner. I believe that one of the 'Wainwright Walks' also starts not too far away so would... More

It is a long time since we ate at the Wainstones and we could not remember much about it. The bar area is old fashioned but warm and cosy. We opted for the set lunch at .£9,95 The soup was very thick and had a skin on top, bread not fresh and the deep fried brie was served with cumberland... More

I stayed here with my partner for a night away. All the staff were so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. We enjoyed a gorgeous meal in the bar as didnt want to eat in the restaurant and the most comftable nights sleep. Well done all at The Wainstones we will be back. More

have been going to the wainstones on and off for 15 years but have seen standards, cleanliness and food decline dramatically. its more of a pub micro food than bistro now and the last time i dined there was ill for two days. if you,re not too fussy about food then this is the place for you but there is... We stayed at the hotel as part of the Cleveland Way. We were picked up and dropped off by staff making our stay comfortable. The staff were really friendly and the food was fantastic. More

Stayed here when we were doing the Coast to Coast hike in September 2011. Although they were very busy with a wedding when we arrived nothing was too much trouble and they made us feel very welcome. They can collect and take you back to the route although we did the extra walk both ways at it is very lovely... More

Exceeded all our expectations.Wonderful venue. From initial contact manager David Hume was accomodating, helpful, and flexible offering advice and suggestions.Staff are attentive and responsive, promoting the 'Wainstones Experience'. Southern visitors were impressed with the hospitality and pleasantly surprised at the surroundings. To be recommended forr weddings, as well as casual visits for meals and or drinks. More

Stayed here recently at our friends wedding, we enjoyed our stay, the food was good, the local beer was reasonable and the staff were attentive. The room was clean and comfortable but could do with modernising, noise kept several guests up. The breakfast was filling and the hotel surroundings were very pleasant. Other people in the bar came for the... More

Overall it was a pleasant stay. The room was clean and comfortable. The decor was traditional rather than the contemporary look favoured by big chain hotels. The facilities could do with modernising, but hopefully not at the cost of the hotel's character. More needs to be done to improve the soundproofing of the rooms. One the plus side the hotel... More

Night 10 of our C2C walk. We'd enjoyed our first taste of the Moors, but even more so, the first touch of the sun for several days. Together with fellow walkers we waited at Clay Bank Top for the pick-up to arrive, and pretty much as promised, it did. We had a cheerful ride into Great Broughton which, when compared... More
