Called in on the off chance for lunch. First impression was that this had been very poorly decorated, it was cold, and there was a large TV showing rock music.. Only two real ale beers on tap, Speckled Hen and IPA, and the IPA was off - as was the Speckled Hen, when it was poured!! Guinness would have to... More

Visited The Yew Tree for a weekend break during the summer last year and it was just what we needed. The rooms were finished to a high standard and obviously recently converted as the furniture still smelt new. The owners of the pub were extremely friendly and helpful at making the stay relaxing. The pub itself is very stylishly and... More

14th Century inn. Love the review earlier about fake beams...they actually hold the place up.Recently reverted to being a local pub from being a restaurant. Really friendly. Great food. Children welcome.

I chose the Yew Tree as I was in the area for work and from the minute I rang to say I was going to get there early -9am! - the owners couldn't have been nicer. I was told not to worry, given coffee on my arrival -while my room was prepared - and just made to feel very welcome.....always... More

Excellent short stay at the Yew Tree, we had two rooms, a double for us and a twin room for my elderly mother. we were down for a family celebration and the hotel was ideally situated for the villages we were visiting. The rooms were just what we needed, beds very comfortable and clean. We had an excellent meal and... More

This review strangely mirrors the one below it as we too were staying there on the Friday night before the Flying Legends Saturday at Duxford. We were also greeted by the owner saying "we are laid back here", our shower also covered the floor in water ( I slipped and fell when getting into it), there was nowhere for toiletries... More

I booked the Yew Tree when I decided to take my husband to Duxford for the Flying Legends. Other accommodation was pretty much taken or vastly overpriced. The Yew Tree is situated in a tiny village in Essex, there is nothing else nearby apart from a car mechanic. First impressions were good, convenient car park, quiet location and the building... More

We stayed for just one night as we were in the area for a wedding. We had booked a night at the Holiday Inn at Stansted and then changed our minds and were so glad that we did. Kit was most welcoming and it was good to have a quick tour of The Yew Tree, I wish we didn't live... More

This is a quiet, upmarket village location. The Yew Tree is a converted and renovated pub with cabin-style hotel rooms finished to a high standard, very comfortable and modern. The restaurant serves excellent food, the service is great, the breakfast could use a few more healthy options (fruit, muesli, yoghurt) but we enjoyed the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. Friendly... More
