Despite the strange negative reviews below, 7 of us booked in for a weekend and were pleasantly surprised. The location is great, 100 metres from two very attractive beaches with rock pools, caves, dolphins and loads for active kids to enjoy. Our double room (room 8) was very comfortable and had space for 5 to sleep, including a bunk bed... More

From the outside this hotel looks old fashioned but me and my husband thought positive and said it looked more rustic. Once checked in we had a room that I can only describe in one word as awful! the 1960's wallpaper had stains from the dampness, where there was dust all over the floor as it smelt like moth balls.... Me and my wife stayed at the hotel for 2 nights and the stay will remain in our memories for all the wrong reasons. Sticky sellotape holding one part of the ceiling together, smelly bathroom, carpet was in sheer disarray, door did not shut properly, then the food was straight out of Fawlty Towers, burnt toast, one sausage the size... I stayed here for 1 night with a group of walkers doing the Ceredigion coastal path. I booked a twin room which cost £70 and contained a double and a single bed. The carpet looked new, but the beds felt as if they'd been there since the hotel was built (it's Edwardian). I could feel all the springs through mine... More

I booked the hotel for a last minute weekend break as it was the only hotel available in Aberporth for the date I required. I paid £125 for a double and single room for one night including breakfast. On the plus side the hotel is in a very good location and is only a 2 minute walk from the beach.... More

My husband, 4 year old daughter and I are currently staying at the Highcliffe Hotel in Aberporth for the third year running. We have a lovely large well decorated room with plenty of space for the three of us, lovely en suite bathroom with shower and lovely comfortable beds. The breakfasts are substantial and very tasty. The hotel itself is... More

I should start by saying that the hotel was booked in good faith for us by an older relative who does not use trip advisor. Conscious of the reviews, when we arrived we tried to hope for the best. In total our group had booked 3 rooms; two were in the main house and were described by those in them... More

Nine of us stayed for two nights. We longed for a damp cloth, blow torch and paint brush. The decor is MFI early 70s vintage and hasn't been touched since. The sheets were so thin that I wondered they withstood washing. The rooms were so cluttered and adorned with unnecessary, dust catching frilly bits that were mostly fraying. One of... More
