Casa Surf is a very chill place that offers a relaxed atmosphere to call home if you find yourself looking for a place to unplug and get away from every day life. It's a basic set up at a really affordable price. I had the privilege of meeting Dan and Erica (the owners) this past weekend while looking for a... More

If you're looking for a chilled out surf spot this is your place! It's shoestring budget friendly and the perfect escape from pretty much anything. Things are simple but surfy here with amazing owners (Dan and Erica) and Erica is an INCREDIBLE cook! We extended our stay far longer than we expected because we visiting during the holidays and the... More

We didn't stay at the hostel. We were just interested in surf lessons and board rentals. We came to Casa Surf for the first time last year, but this was the first year with Dan and Erica. Playa Tamarindo is always so busy with several surf schools operating at the same time so we liked Playa Avellanas because we were... More

What more could you want while on a surf safari in Costa Rica!? DISREGARD the review from the angry French Canadian from Montreal, we were there when they came and stayed and acted like they had never stayed at a surf hostel before! Of course there is sand on the floors and the bathroom smells kind of moldy, thats what... More

Spent 10 amazing days at Casa Surf! If you're planning to hit Playa Avellanas for surfing or pleasure you need to stay at Casa Surf! Prices are really good, $10 per night. Nice comfy stay, the rooms were all super clean. I made a lot of great friends. Dan & Erica ensure you are comfortable and enjoy your stay in... More

STAY HERE! Where to begin! This is what Costa Rica is- true "Pura Vida". We already miss Dan and Erica and all of my new friends in Playa Avellanas. I feel I found a home away from home and I can't thank them enough for making us feel so welcome. It's easy to relax in paradise, and it's even BETTER... More

When we paid 20$ for the night, I wasn't expected a place very confortable but not so disgusting. You really don't want that your skin touch the sheets, and I am sure that you imagine that the floor wasn't clean at all. I am not sure that I should describe the odors from the bathroom... actually I decided not to... More

If you plan on surfing in Costa Rica, then you have to go to Playa Avellanas. When you get there you must stay at Casa Surf! It's cheap and comfty and right across the road from epic surf (beach break, river break, reef break)!!! Dan and Erica will make you feel right at home. After a long day of surf... More

After staying in Tamarindo I left feeling a little empty, like there was something more but I just know what. I found it at Casa Surf. Peace, a huge beach and a hostel where you can really just chill. Dan & Erica were great hosts, not just another owner dealing with faceless travelers. The passion they hold for their hostel... More

I really enjoyed my stay at Casa Surf– it's very simple and straightforward lodging, at a very cheap price point. Anyone can put up four walls, add beds, and call it a hostel– so what truly made my stay genuine special and unique was one of the owners, Erica (later joined by her partner Dan, also great– but barely got...
