We visited all the pubs in Reeth during our 2 night stay, all do good beers, this was the only one we ate in. I agree with the music review, very loud on Friday night, quieter on Saturday. This pub also has the only cash machine in Reeth as far as we could tell. We had a carvery here on... More

Had two evenings in here, nice pub, good range of beers, a lovely roaring fire both evenings and dog friendly, but both evenings spoilt by excessively loud music. The first evening was busy with visitors, walkers and locals all trying to enjoy conversation above the boom-boom disco music screaming out at top volume from speakers around the pub- cue everyone... We ate here after we had tried to reach our holiday cottage and failed because of the snow. It looked inviting and traditional. Sadly the room soon was freezing - every time the door opened, gusts of cold air blew in. Get a porch - you could easily partition the entrance area! The barman was an elderly gent, clearly very... Stayed here a little while ago, NEVER AGAIN. We booked to stay for one night (Friday) I informed the owners that we would not arrive until about 8.30 in the evening as we had a 2+1/2 hour car journey (we live on the Wirral) ,they told us that was no problem and they would inform the kitchen that we might... Was bloody amazed to find no fewer than 5 vegetarian options on the menu and for £8.25 we stuffed ourselves silly. It's not a fancy schmancy (is that even a word?!) place but it had great staff who were down to earth and very accommodating, had a good range of beers and was really welcoming; we were a bunch of... No nonsense inn, lovely Swaledale village. No airs and graces here. Basically somewhere to stay while out walking in beautiful Swaledale. Rooms are OK. Decent enough pub grub and real ale. Large open fire in the bar (if you can get close to it). Filling breakfast and plain-speaking Yorkshire service. Certainly more of a drinkers' pub (locals and visitors) than... More

While staying in Reeth for a long weekend we visited this pub twice. For me this pub is more a drinking pub. Although I wouldn't choose to eat there the food we saw did look quite nice. The beer was on form and there was a log fire roaring in the fireplace. There is a pool table and darts at... More

We've stayed at the Black Bull before and when I reviewed it last time I commented on late night noise from smokers sat beneath the guest room windows.I thought we'd got away with it this time and, after a long walk, we fell asleep as soon as our heads hit the pillow. Unfortunately, at 2.30am we were woken by a... More

We stayed here as part of the coast to coast walk and were very disappointed. After a long day we were shown to our rooms that were dated and a bit dirty. It also felt a bit unsafe as the windows in my friends room wouldn't open and the door to the room itself was quite small giving concern about... More
