The main problem is that the parking is on the main road in a lay-by and on the opposite side. There is a steep climb of approx. 20 steps and then gravel. Not easy for the elderly or infirm. The house is nicely furnished but the carpet throughout is cream, which shows every mark - not a good idea when... More

Would have to have been the oddest greeting with being refused entry until all boots or wet gear were removed and attention more to putting the shopping away then getting us settled. The slices and cup of tea though were a nice treat. On entering the house you understood why with plush, cream carpets and you wondered why they accepted... More

We arrived at Reeth at about 3:00pm, luckily on a sunny day, as we were greeted by Peter who immediately asked that we remove our boots before entering. I could perfectly understand why as inside the door was beautiful plush pile carpet, perhaps not that practical for walkers arriving wet and bedraggled. Most B&Bs had an area outside the weather... Booked through Packhorse Coast 2 Coast walk. Very warm welcome from Peter and his wife, lovely cup of tea in sunshine, much needed. Immaculate home, although felt a little uncomfortable, this home was like a show home, credit to Peter and his lovely wife. Would have loved a soak in bath instead of shower. More

We have just done the coast to coast on bikes and The School House was the best place we stayed at. Peter was a great host. He whisked our bikes off to his secure bike storage whilst asking us in the same breath if we would like a cup of hot tea and some home-made cake (beautiful apricot cake!!). He... More

I stayed here with friends for one night whilst walking Wainwrights Coast to Coast trail. While I would agree with the previous comments about Peter being rather concerned that our rucksacks didn't hit the walls, it was understandable as this B&B is immaculate. I would say that all the other B&Bs we stayed in expected us to remove boots before... More

We stayed here in July for one night during our Coast to Coast walk. It really is an immaculate house but maybe a bit too immaculate for a couple of Coast to Coasters. We felt a bit uncomfortable with all of the cream carpets etc in case we made a mess. The host was friendly enough but he was very... More

We were welcomed at the door by a gentleman, who snatched our boots from us, then my bag was grabbed off me in case I "bumpedthe paintwork on the way up the stairs". The room was small and there was no tea or coffee in the room, because apparently to add another socket mey have interfered with the architectural features... More

School House B&B is a beautiful, quiet house with spacious stairs and landings and a special front-facing sitting room for guests. The owners are very welcoming and provide a really excellent breakfast – freshly prepared fruits, wonderful yoghourt, very good coffee, very good home cooking. The slight climb up the garden path to the front door is well worth it... More

An overnight stay to allow us to attend a local event......this meant we arrived very late but were treated to great hospitality...even a plate of cheese to go with our own bottle of wine ! We live in a very quiet village, so are conscious of noise....it was tranquil and thus we had a great nights sleep. Up early the... More
