We found Maltby through Tripadvisor when looking for a nice little friendly B&B close to the Kyle of Lochalsh bridge. It was everything that was promised to us by the other guests. We styed tor only one night as w were travelling around Scotland on a tight schedule. Barbara is very welcoming and friendly. She was extremely helpful when we... more

We chanced upon this cosy B&B when we'd been let down by another which double booked our room. After a day long drive, we were exhaused and fed up, but were warmly greeted, and immediately felt at home. The whole place was very clean and nicely (and sweetly) decorated, especially the kitchen. It was here that were were presented with... more

We went up to the Isle of Skye for 4 days over New Year and stayed in Maltby B+B for our first 2 nights. Barbara was a perfect hostess - she was helpful and accomodating without being intrusive. Her house was a really cosy and homely place to stay and she made us feel very welcome. It's a shame we... more

We stayed at the Maltby for a night while driving through the highlands. Barbara made us feel extremely welcome. We were there on Jan 1st and New Year's day being a holiday, we would have struggled much for a dinner venue, but for Barbara's research and excellent recommendation. A great place, quaint with excellent views and amazing breakfasts personally prepared... more

We have just returned from a 4 day stay at Maltby Bed & Breakfast on the Isle of Skye. The B&B is run by Barbara, an excellent hostess. The rooms were beautifully decorated and absolutely spotless. The house is in an elevated position well away from the road giving breath-taking views across the bay. There was a fabulous open fire... more

Barbara (the owner) was very welcoming and basically a very pleasant person. We arrived at The Maltby to the smell of fresh strawberry jam being made - brilliant! The bedrooms were very comfortable with tea making facilities etc. and with great sunset views. The house is of traditional design/construction with a dinky stair up to first floor level bedrooms. The... more

We received a very warm welcome from Barbara and her border terrier companion Jack. Excellent breakfasts, and dinner, too, if you require it. Relaxed atmosphere in a very convenient location on Skye. Very comfortable accommodation with spectacular views. more

Maltby is a small cosy B & B near to the village of Broadford on the island of Skye. It is run single handedly by the owner Barbara Poyser. It is pretty much as described on her website but unfortunatley during our 3 night stay there was a major water problem! There had been a burst water main on our... more

Management response from

I feel I must express my concern regarding the difficulties referred to over the water situation. I see no point in labouring events which were completely out of my control. There was a burst water main in the whole area which resulted in no water at all. When it was reconnected it led to a loss of pressure in the...

We stayed at Maltby on our second night on our week long driving tour of Scotland. Barbara made us welcome from the very beginning. The rooms are lovely and our 17 year old son loved the biscuits and hot chocolate in his room. The bathroom is like being in a spa. We loved Barbara providing a breakfast menu so we... more
