Sa Bisbal occupies a building of significant architectural interest. It was constructed in the XVII century, being located in the most privileged place of Selva, at the top of the town next to the gothic church of Sant Llorenç which itself dates from the year 1301. For a long time the building was the residence of noble families of Majorca. The actual owner has restored all the building giving back all its character and original splendour. Some of the more remarkable architectural elements include the portal fora constructed with perfectly fitted stone blocks and the original cub de vi, which was used for the fermentation of the grape in producing wines. In the cellar excavated in the rock, the wine was stored in barrels. The stone stairs are one of the oldest and most valuable architecturally enchanting elements of the house. In keeping with the Majorcan gothic style, Sa Bisbal retains in its large windows the conopial carved stone arcs. In the patio is the aljub, a characteristic element of the Mediterranean culture, which still today collects rainwater. Sa Bisbal has six rooms and each is unique in both its design and decoration. They have all the amenities - bathroom, air conditioning and heating, TV, and have varying views of the Serra de Tramuntana, the north coast of the island and the neighbouring villages. Room 1 is a twin bedded room and is accessed from the garden and terrace. Room 2 (junior suite) is more spacious and has two balconies on the facade. Its decor is elegant. The views from this room are spectacular covering the entire north coast of the island and the sea, and up to 4 villages. This room has a double bed. Room 3 (junior suite) is also very spacious, with a double bed and has its own terrace overlooking the garden, the neighbouring church and the Serra de Tramuntana. Room 4, with its wood beamed ceiling looks over the garden. It has twin beds. Room 5 is a little smaller, but very cosy, with a double bed and enjoys wonderful views. Room 6 (junior suite) has a double bed and is on the top floor of the house. A feature is its wooden mansard roof and large windows with views to the Serra de Tramuntana and the bell tower of the Church. It has its own terrace. A buffet breafast is served between 8am and 10am in our restaurant, Es Portal de Tramuntana, which is in the main square, just 50 metres or so from the hotel.

A great place to stay in a period property. A unique experience in an unstaffed hotel, where you pop across the road to Can Cota for breakfast, another hotel in the group. We were there for a few days and found it quiet and relaxing. Pool is small but was ours to enjoy during our stay. There’s an honesty bar and lounge, but little else to enjoy but the tranquility of the place. The room wasn’t big but contained lots of antiques, air con and a big bath. Really enjoyed our visit.

Beautiful old Mallorcan building in Selva – lots of honey stone, marble floors, high ceilings, elegantly furnished. Rooms spacious with decent toiletries. We had a cute balcony with a view across the village and right next to the church tower. Pool and hot tub and garden areas gorgeous - exactly as shown on their website. Only downside the lack of management and slightly weak buffet breakfast (taken at the sister hotel across the road) compared to the other four ‘boutique’ hotels we visited on this trip. This was the only one of the four that was entirely self-service. But great location and superb architecture.

The building is beautifully refurbished with stone staircases and thick walls. The room was big with a huge bath. Breakfast was in the hotel across the road as was tea and coffee, but access was 24/7 and that worked well for us.

Stayed in hotel for 7 days. Lovely area, very beautiful. Hotel think is under new ownership, there were 2 very nice young girls who checked us in and out however there certainly wasn't the individual welcome that was evident in reviews in the past. Room 6 was nice, lovely balcony to sit on an evening. The room had ineffective air conditioning, it was stifling and unusable were just couldn't relax . We did seek help and were given a fan which did little to alleviate the problem. We have communicated with the owner since the holiday who has been apologetic but really it spoil our holiday within the hotel. The toilet area needs some rethinking but difficult I appreciate in an old building. We used the pool at the nearby Can Cote hotel which is gorgeous. There was a pool at Sa Bisbal but no parasols, so no shade at all. The restaurant attached to the hotel it appears is permanently closed by the fb page, Nov 18 I think. I went to book it having seen the reviews and saw this. Lovely Hotel, room spoilt a little by small details and a terrible air con unit.

We arrived at the hotel on a cycle tour for 2 nights. Instead of being given a room in what sounds a lovely characterful hotel with views we were placed in an apartment in the main square ( well suite, as there's no kitchen). Whilst this was convenient for the restaurant where breakfast is served and for the bike store, it didn't have the same style as the hotel based on photos of the rooms on the website and the downstairs reception rooms. We could still use the pool area/garden of the hotel and the manager was friendly, but our booking in the hotel should have been honoured, or the apartment been of the same level as the hotel. Breakfast was very good.

This hotel has a fabulous restaurant just around the corner on the beautiful square - we had to go back several times. Our room was quiet and had everything you needed. Great location for walking and cycling. Areas for improvement - more beach towels should be available - often difficult to find someone to check in with - perhaps a bit more focus on the interiors (I.e fabrics to inject colour) would be great - more selection in the honesty bar

We stayed a week at Sa Bisbal and could not have had a nicer time. A small hotel next to a large church at the top of the hill. It has only 6 rooms and run by the owners/managers who are both very professional and friendly. There is a kitchen/honesty bar with very fairly priced wines, beers, water and soft drinks. We had a busy few months and spent a lot of time 'chilling out' around their pool. The property is very old and not built as a hotel but it has been sympathetically converted. Our room, was very large and comfortable (especially the bed) with bath, shower air-conditioning and small roof terrace. Breakfast is served in their nearby restaurant. Buffet style with eggs cooked to order. Being an old house in an old town there is no dedicated car parking but we always managed to find a space nearby. We will definitely visit again.

We had a wonderful 4 night stay at Sa Bisbal. It's located in the lovely, quiet village of Selva and provided the perfect, relaxing break. Len was a fantastic host and the accommodation exceeded expectations, spacious rooms in a beautiful building. We ate at Len's restaurant, the food was superb and beautifully presented. We intended to go back on our last night but the restaurant is closed on a Thursday, so sadly we couldn't eat there again. I think we will be back though. A thoroughly recommended place to stay.

How often do you find a hotel with a restaurant that is perfect? Well, this is it. Francesca and Len run this gem in the little town of Selva half an hour above Palma, Majorca. The rooms are big with high beamed ceilings, The views are of the mountains. This is a little Spanish town, where there are virtually no tourists. The restaurant belonging to the hotel is bliss. There are other places to eat in Selva but I can't think why you would want to since this one is so fantastic. I thought I didn't like tuna until I had it here the first night of our stay. I don't like puddings but I had one every night. The rose wine is orange coloured and excellent. There is a garden with jacaranda trees which give up their pale purple flowers so that they float down and there is a pool. Beyond you can hear school children in the street and locals calling to one another as they go about their daily lives. At the bottom of the street I found goats and hens and a big white moggie in the field where the orchards are and I am always amazed by the lemon and lime trees giving up their bounty in glorious fashion. Len and Francesca are very organised and make sure that your stay is great, even down to sorting out taxis for you. The kitchen is there for you to use, you can keep stuff in the fridge and we drank endless pots of tea. My daughter called this place 'home from home' and it certainly is.

Firstly, we love Selva, we LOVE IT that hardly anyone speaks English, and it’s ideally located to get almost anywhere on the island. We have stayed about 2miles outside of Selva before, Finca Es Castell and Son Ametler, then 2yrs ago we stayed at Hort de Cas Misser, Selva. But this trip the Cas Misser was fully booked, so we were lucky when we stumbled across Hotel Sa Bisbal, and it looked perfect for us ... and it was!! Everything was extremely well handled, we even managed to get a seriously late check-out at 6pm! Of course there as always draw backs and generally all hotels cannot please everyone. 1) Water in pool is daily dirty from pigeon mess – this prevented Lynne from using I more (she just a bit squeamish and a past Nurse – say no more!) 2) In the honesty area, I could not see any Ice and Lemon available for a G&T - who has a G&T without Ice and Lemon?? 3) Would be nice to have A/C that affects the whole room not just in one place. 4) Single Beds, it would have been nice to have an option for a Double/King Bed 5) One of the two Towel Hooks outside of shower area needs fixing to wall properly 6) It would be really nice to have a small fridge in the room, to keep locally bought refreshments fresh and cool and store some Ice, lemons and Tonic Water  7) In the honesty Fridge there is Full Fat Coca-Cola ... who drinks this rubbish nowadays, everything needs to be Zero Sugar. 8) No the fault of the hotel, but Google Maps takes you to the wrong place, but once we knew where to go we were sorted – maybe add a description of where to drive to on the website?? PLUS POINTS 1) Probably the best shower and cubicle we have had abroad – Top Marks! 2) Wi-Fi in room was brilliant 3) Although we had single beds, the comfort value of the beds were amazing. 4) Simple and effective toilet area, privacy kept with a great sliding door. 5) Beds were made every day. 6) Our Terrace was excellent, maybe a greenhouse up there in the heat - I measured the temperature with a portable thermometer, he reading was 60c (ouch) 7) Breakfast in the Tramuntana restaurant - just a short walk away - was superb, greatly looked after each day by Marisol (who also speaks little English, just the way we like it – although on Day3 she worked out I only drank hot water with lemon, and didn’t need to ask me every-day) 8) Evening Meals - we ate EVERY EVENING at Es Portal de Tramuntana - owner by the Hotel (high class food and High Class Service - Migel and Gabriel were perfect Maitre D's). The only night we did not eat at Tramuntana was when it was CLOSED for the evening. Chef's night off. Top Marks here!!
