I've occasionally chosen to stay here for the past 15+ years, and it's never let me down. The New Otani is conveniently situated in Tokyo's Akasaka district, and is a 5 minute walk from Akasaka Mitsuke Station and 10 minutes from the JR Yotsuya Station. In the past, the hotel would've been considered 5-star, but time and competition have relegated... More

I booked a room at the Garden Tower, and following the advice of other TA reviewers I joined the New Otani Club. Upon check-in I was offered a room at the Main, but it was a smoking room and preferred to keep the original booking. The room was nice enough; the furniture and general decor was too old and in... I stayed here as part of a business trip, which covered the expenses. This hotel is located in Akasaka near the Akasaka Mitsuke station. It is one of the older style all encompassing luxury hotels, and so it is a huge complex of two hotel towers with many shops and restaurants and other services (even babysitting), so it is easy... My wife and I stayed in a main standard room, and because we received such a good price, I feel as though the value was very good. I think the pictures we found beforehand were an accurate representation of what to expect. This hotel does look dated at this point, and the style is something I would expect to see... More

I came to this hotel 10 years ago and I thought it was adorable. Now Im in Tokyo again and decided to stay there again. What a bad idea... I did my reservation through hotels.com for 3 non-smoking rooms (2 adults, 1 children - 10 years old). They tried to put me into two single bed rooms. I asked where... More

New Otani can be a bit worn at the edges but the Main building is now absolutely first class as is the service throughout the hotel. Food is expensive but there are plenty of places to eat nearby. Location is quieter than Shinjuku but there is still plenty going on and transport connections are excellent. The fantastic hotel garden is... More

I've stayed at several hotels in Tokyo, and this my second sojourn to the New Otani. The majority of the 4 star reviews are spot on - it's not the glitziest, the shiniest, the newest. It has a familiar, homely quality though, which makes stepping out of the taxi a comforting experience. It is best seen as a great vantage... More

A good central location with easy access to central Tokyo. I have used this hotel 3 times now, because of it's location. The rooms are a little tired now. Service at the hotel is excellent. 5 minutes walk there are bars restaurants in narrow streets, plenty of good casual food, and drinks. More

My second stay here on a business trip and it remains a reasonable hotel which ticks every box, but at the same time, doesn't really stand out in any area. The rooms are clean and tidy with comfortable beds, but the furniture is very basic. The bars are nice, especially the one on the 40th floor in the garden tower... More

and a cup of coffee is 12 euro. This massive 1600 bedroom complex is nice enough to stay in but peripheral services are completely outrageous and out of all proportion to anywhere else I have ever stayed. If you do not have to pay for anything and are working for an investment bank, you would probably choose a newer hotel,... More
