This chronicles our sojourn through Iberia by car, train and limo from Sunday May 4 through Sunday May 19, 2013. Day 1 - Sunday May 4 Alicante Spain. Checked into the Hotel Rambla, spartan but clean. It is nicely located to all the sights and we walked to the Castle of Santa Barbara, an old fortress built around the 14th... More

After having a busy work schedule it was a relief to enjoy the welcome calm in Andalucia. Jeff and Sally have a wonderful home and the house is tastefully decorated, as well as being spotlessly clean. The bedrooms are beautifully furnished with spacious bathrooms and a complimentary drinks fridge was a real bonus! Their knowledge of the local area and all... More

My return visit to El Amparo was part work, part pleasure. I can't think of nicer places to work than in the courtyard, with a view of fields and mountains whenever I looked up, or sitting on a shady patio with the sun going down. When it turned chilly, I could choose to continue in the cosy salon or in... More

Our 4th visit to El Amparo was again a truly unique experience ... a place where you can do as much or little as you choose. We enjoy being active and during this holiday took advantage of proprietor Jeff’s cycles for a ride along the Washington Irving trail to Alhama de Granada for the first refreshment stop of the day,... If you like places a little different, quiet and off the beaten track then this is the place for you and your family. We hired a car from Malaga airport and drive up into the hills for 3 nights at El Amparo - really pleasant drive. Jeff, the proprietor, greeted us and definitely in the right job - so friendly,... We were not disappointed by our recent stay at El Amparo. As every review thus far has attested to, the location is beautiful and the welcome warm. Unfortunately we were not blessed with great weather during our stay so we didn't get to use many of the facilities on site, however if we had it would have been a great... More

We spent a wonderful 3 nights at El Amparo and although January can be unpredictable we had amazing blue skies and sunshine whilst the rest of Europe very unsettled. The sunrise and sunsets were spectacular and The B&B is well placed to take advantage of both. The views are 360 degrees and at night, when the temperature dropped it was... More

We arrived quite late and it wasn´t until the following morning we were treated to the location of El Amparo. Unbelievably breathtaking! The views are 360 and the peace and tranquility were a welcome treat after our tour of Madrid and Barcelona. Although this is a truly rural setting, the drive from Granada took less than 30 minutes, which meant... More

The place is in the middle of no where. The hosts are like old friends... You know like those ones we didn't see for a long time but it is like yesterday when you're talking with?! El Amparo a quiet place build with passion by «tow sweet crasy one» in a peacefull place surrouded by olives threes. Jeff took a... More

Even when you happen to stay in Andalucía during an unusual rainy period, El Amparo still makes your stay perfect! Jeff's advice on all things andalucían - food, visits, trips, hikes - is precious. El Amparo is superbly located: super quiet and remote for those who want to stay away from the buzzing cities and coastline and just hang by... More
