We stayed at this hotel during our visit to Tubingen (about 10-15 minutes by car). And you do need a car. The hotel is not located in an attractive area (it looks more like an industrial park) and it does have the feel of a business hotel (for which it would be fine). I spent a week here, while on attending a work-related seminar in Herrenberg. It is definitely best if you have your own car to get here. Otherwise, the hotel has a free shuttle bus from the train station - or you can reach the hotel by foot from that station in around 10 minutes. It is certainly not a downtown...
